3/14/2015 Game Thread UK vs Auburn

Auburn is the talk of the tourney so far. They have played three thrilling games and won them all. KT Harrell is on fire. He's the MVP of the tourney to this point. Auburn has to running on fumes though. This will be the 4th game in four days. They are not deep or big. They also will be without Granger today who was kicked out of yesterdays game for fighting. That won't help their cause any. UK won by 35 the first time they met. If UK can get out to early lead this could turn into a huge blowout. Just don't let Auburn hang around until the 2nd half and the Cats should be just fine in this one. If Auburn hangs around anything could happen. I believe the Cats will take care of business and win going away today. Cats by 30 and set another record with a 33 game winning streak.

The game is at 1 PM and will be on ESPN. Brad Nessler and Dick Vitale will be calling the game.
    Kentucky fan since 1971.

    Been waiting on this!

Line is 23 and it really shouldn't be that close. But, Auburn is on quite a run and Harrell has been insane. Stop him and they have no chance to even stay close in this game.

Last game we let Mason go nuts but he has struggled as of late. They have literally no size down low, KAT and WCS should have huge games.

Just the luck, karma, and Harrell will keep this close for a few minutes. But, the Cats should pull away pretty easily.

    Cats win by 16-18

I slept in this morning after a hard night of watching games so it was later than usual. I'm getting too old to stay up til midnight watching these games.

Auburn will have a lot of energy in the beginning, but it won't last long. Our kids have to look at this game as important enough to come out and play hard. I worry they will take Auburn for granted and come out flat. We need to run and gun, and it shouldn't be close.

What's funny about this game is that Auburn could easily have two guys out.

The one guy got in a fight yesterday, and Mason threw a clearly intentional punch in the first half that was just called a flagrant.

May be some extracurricular today, especially as the game gets out of hand.

Great - always awesome to have the worst official in the NCAA doing your game

UK with the win will have the longest win streak all time for SEC conference school. Then add the Auburn story and the atmosphere will be amazing. Hope we come out and put the Tigers (War Eagles) in their place early. Make them get more and more tired by the second having to play from behind all day. That is what we need. GO BIG BLUE!!!!!!!!

So watching Game Day right now. They are talking about the Committee and selecting the 2 seed and where to play them. All of a sudden they are backing off Wisconsin in Kentucky's bracket. Now they are talking about the worst 2 in Kentucky's bracket if at all possible. Do you think the backlash is coming from Wisconsin not wanting to be in Kentucky bracket or from Kentucky not wanting Wisconsin in the same bracket. I was getting tired of the talking heads saying Kentucky does not want to see Wisconsin before the final four. I am so ready for the games to start. Hope this team will be locked and loaded starting today. No mercy.

I think most of those guys are about the same. Seems like some of them have certain tendencies but it evens out for both teams. Fans generally spend way too much time criticizing the officials. Some Kentucky fans let it absolutely eat them up and I know some who don't even enjoy watching the games because they're convinced the refs have some kind of a vendetta against us. It's horrifically weird.

But of the guys we generally get I tend to notice Shows the most. He does things like engage with the coaches, he showboats a little, he'll anticipate calls--I've seen him do this both for and against UK. If I had to say which of these guys is the worst (again, of the ones we draw), I'd have to say it's Shows.

Shows showboats a lot. That gets him noticed. Otherwise I think he's a pretty decent official. There are plenty of others much worse than him.

I think all the talk about its having an effect. Bilas had some really harsh comments on it and I think the committee takes him seriously. Its all about common sense. If they use that then there will be little criticism of the selections or placement of teams.

From everyone that knows officiating, this is far from true. Like him or hate him, that's everyone's choice, but Doug Shows is one of the best!

25 minutes til tip. Always nervous but UK would have to screw this up big time to lose.
