    Lute Olson Passes Away

Legendary University of Arizona basketball coach Lute Olson has passed away. His daughter-in-law, Stacy Olson, just notified me saying he passed earlier this evening. #RIPLute #Tucson #BearDown

Hate to see anyone pass but I was never a Lute Olson fan.

Lute was ok, in my opinion. I do seem to recall something happened that soured a lot of UK bb fans on him, although I don't remember what. Whenever something happens, I usually move on.

Didn't he almost become the UK coach when we hired Pitino? Seems I remember he accepted the job and basically backed out at the last minute.

Rest in peace, but his title should've been ours.

Matt, seems to me Lute was a candidate for the UK job, also seems like one of UKs best players left after the Sutton envelope scandal <Mills, I think> and ended up playing for him....if I recall right, the feeling was he came for an interview and left with a potential all american.

That's so right and painful still. Petino had the best team but wouldn't call off the press.
                  Praying for the Olson family.
