Purdue's Matt Haarms Enters Transfer Portal

In a very surprising move, Matt Haarms--a senior-to-be at Purdue who averaged 9 points, 5 boards, and 2 blocks a game--will transfer.

Haarms is far from a superstar but he's 7'3" and will be 22 years old this month. Since the NCAA will likely grant a play-immediate waiver to all transfers, Haarms would be a really interesting addition to UK's roster.

I have no idea if Kentucky is interested or if Haarms would be interested in Kentucky. It might be a Kerry Blackshear Part II thing. But it's an interesting development during a week when we might lose five contributors to the NBA.

I don't know a lot about this kid, but it would be an interesting addition to our incoming team if Cal is interested. How good is he offensively in the block? Does he block out well? At 7'3" his blocks should be more imo.

Not a great player by any means, but Kentucky is desperate for (1) size and (2) experience. He checks both those boxes.

^That's for sure. Bring him on, we took a chance on 2 others and they worked out Ok. Question, could he play his Grad year at UK?

UK has reached out, along with about 20 other schools.

He's going to be a huge (literally) target for a ton of schools. UK desperately needs a big guy and if he is up for the challenge I don't see how he could find a better situation than what UK is offering.

He's a good player with a soft touch and runs the floor well. He would be a good get for us if he chooses.

I totally agree. With who he would be playing for and with, he can't find a better situation than Kentucky.

Lots of talk on Twitter that it will be Seton Hall or Gonzaga for Haarms.
