On paper, tonight's game SHOULDN'T be tough at all. But the game isn't played on paper.

Agreed. However, A&M is not a good team and this is not a game UK can afford to lose. It would be a Quad 3 loss and absolutely crushing for our NCAAT seeding.
Hagans has to get his act together. He has been pretty dreadful for a while now, very similar to the wall he hit last year that cost us big time.

Ashton Hagans first 18 games: 13.6 pts, 4.3 reb, 7.3 ast, 3.2 TO, 2.2 stls
Ashton Hagans last 9 games: 8.2 pts, 3.4 reb, 4.9 ast, 4.0 TO, 1.5 stlsComment

The game is hard for Hagans right now. Because he can't shoot, his guy is standing back at the foul line, so when he dives he's basically driving right into a thicket of arms and hands.
Two things that have happened the last three or four games: he's overdribbling a ton, and he's taking too many threes. That's the sign of a player trying to make something happen when it isn't there.
He doesn't have a lot of offensive tricks in his bag so it's easy to take the floor away on him. And when he does get into the paint, as we all know he's a very spotty lay-up shooter. But the trouble for him begins by his defender playing about 15 feet off.
Were I Hagans I'd just try to go back to what he was doing early in the season, which is distribute on virtually every possession. The offense will come, but if he starts to press he'll never bust out of this. Not talented or skilled enough offensively.👍 2Comment

Yep, good post. All of which would suggest he isn't ready for the NBA or even draftable but, as we all know and expect, he will leave after this year.

In conference games only, Ashton Hagans is turning the ball over on 24.8% of UK's possessions, compared to Tyrese Maxey (14.1%) and Immanuel Quickley (6.7%) despite a usage rate that's within 1% of both.

Ashton Hagans appears to have lost some confidence in his offense so he's looking to create even more for teammates but the book is out and teams are now playing him for the pass, something Kenny Payne hinted at Monday. Hagans may not be 100% but has to get those TO numbers down.Comment

Yep, we've seen this scenario play out a million times. Come out lacking energy and focus and lose to a bad SEC team on the road. But, A&M is not good at anything, except taking charges lol.
If the cats take care of business tonight, my confidence will be shy high on this team.Comment
