Looking at your 1 seeds, as of March 1st I think you have to go Kansas, Dayton, Gonzaga, and Baylor.

San Diego St. would be the first one out of course, but after that...man, it gets really dicey. Outside of Kansas that's about the shakiest group of ones you'll ever see.

If Baylor keeps stumbling or Dayton loses an odd game here, it's not outside the realm of possibility that Kentucky (assuming we keep winning) enters the conversation.

Truly unbelievable and something that I think will cost UK with the selection committee.

      From ESPN Stats:
With a 71-60 loss to Illinois State today, Evansville finishes 0-18 in Missouri Valley play.

On November 12, the Purple Aces beat No. 1 Kentucky, 67-64.

They are the first team in NCAA history to beat the AP No. 1 team and lose all of their conference games in a single season.

Duke losing makes my day......they have lost twice this week to unranked teams.....they should drop out of the top 10

Truly crazy that we lost to that bunch.

BUT there's an asterisk here: that team was going through more turmoil than probably any team in America. That's not a normal "bad" team. There are all kinds of extenuating circumstances with Evansville.

Another question: if Duke had lost at home to Evansville, and ended up with the same exact sort of winning streak, would the national media and bracketologists make as big a deal of it as they have with Kentucky?

I don't like sounding like a conspiracy theorist, but I tend to think they wouldn't.

They lost to SFA in Cameron indoor just days after we lost to Evansville. Vegas considered that a bigger upset than ours.

I guess we'll see what they do with Duke losing 3 of their last 4. But (my best attempt) to answer your question...no they were not punishing Duke as much for their monumental loss as we were punished for ours. They never left the 1 to 2 seed line while we were hanging around the 4 to 6.

When you talk about the NCAA and/or media treatment of Duke/UNC there is no conspiracy to it. It's fact.

Watch Coach Cal’s post game interview. Hilarious response to a reporter’s reference to Evansville.

It's dragging on because Evansville had such a terrible season. The last I heard SFA could end up being a tournament team. I know at the time it was a bigger upset than ours, but in the end our loss was quite a bit worse.

This is true. SFA ended up winning their conference and only dropping 3 games, I think. Borderline tournament squad.

Evansville, as we all know, ended up nosediving almost immediately after beating Kentucky.

With that said, I still don't think they should be weighing that game as heavily as they seem to be. I'm not sure what we have to do to prove that we have improved since November; with our remaining schedule, I don't think we really have the opportunity. Either the committee goes by the eye test, or we're going to cap at a 3 because of the computer models.

Mighty Creighton gets rolled by 14-14 St. John's today, hopefully shutting up the nonsense about them being a 2 seed.

Meanwhile, Seth Davis still has Duke as a 2 seed, which makes all the sense in the world.

I completely agree that it shouldn't weigh like it does, I was just saying there's a big difference in the teams now that we both lost to. November was a long time ago and we've shown we can beat anyone, especially in these last few weeks.

I can MAYBE see it if the ACC were any good. The SEC is better and the number of teams projected to make the tourney proves it. That Evansville loss is going to haunt us. Still. I woukdn't want to play us.

Its not paranoia or conspiracy...you are speaking the truth! And watch, no matter if we win out, win the SEC title, they will put us in the toughest region! Duke can fold the rest of the way and watch what their bracket will look like regardless of seeding.

Texas Tech on the road with 20 turnovers takes Baylor to overtime before losing.
