I think what separates this team from Cal's other rough-around the edges team (Knox/Shai, Ulis/Murray, Twins/Randle) is that this team hits free throws.

Cal's had some teams as we all know that just get up there and clanked crucial free throws, thus leaving the door open. When you've got a big man like Richards who's going to step in there and hit clutch foul shots, and a guy like Quickley who's on an almost historic pace, it makes the endgame so much easier.

This team probably has two to four more losses at this point if they were around where Cal's teams usually are from the stripe--68 to 70%. That they're at 79% is a major deal with the way they play, because they're inevitably going to be in a bunch of close games with their personnel.

I'm not sure South Carolina was as bad of a loss as it seems in hindsight. They're 8-4 in the league right now and are above .500 on the year overall at 16-9. We're 11-2 in the league and our losses are to teams that are in the top 4 record wise (we'll see how it plays out once tiebreakers come into play).

Exactly, we are not winning by 30 and are not going undefeated, we have taken a few bad FLUKE losses. With that being said, it's not always pretty but the kids hustle and scrap finding a way to win, true definition of grinding it out.

As much as Hagans hurts us at times, the trio of him, Maxey, and Quickley really gives this team a firewall at the end of close games. I like 'em.
If Hagans is knocking down jump shots, hard to defend Kentucky. I also like fact that Hagans is looking to take you off the bounce and jam it down your throat when he gets the opportunity, Hagans is alright in my book...

If you had told me after the Evansville game this team would win at Vandy, Tennessee, and LSU I would have bet good money against you.
Big wins. Bad places and with Hagans and almost Richards out primed for disaster last night. Kids are finding ways. Of all unlikely hero's, Sestina had to be top of the list. Great to see this time of year.

According to KSR the last 3 seasons we've won at Tennessee, LSU, and Vanderbilt, we've won titles. Obviously a lot has to happen for this team to win a title, but winning in these places builds the kind of guts you need to win 6 in a row.

Cats looked awesome in the 2nd half last night until Hagans went down. Then Nick made it even scarier. Both seem like like they escaped multiple game absences. We needed Hagans at the end to handle the ball and would've won pretty comfortably had that been the case. I said a few games ago that I feel a run coming and nothing has changed that. These Cats are a gritty bunch. Beat the Gators!

                  Crazy stat.

Suggestive of how down the SEC is...but hey, the SEC has been down a lot of years.

This team has started to do some stuff. I hope we aren't peaking right now only to see a late-February fade. I hope the best is to come.

As do I. There's still room for improvement - getting Juzang, Sestina, and Brooks Jr. to play more consistently is gonna be necessary if this team is gonna play in the second weekend of the tournament. Montgomery too. And of course we need to learn to stretch out and keep on a lead.

I think a late season swoon, or maybe a small fainting spell could happen. I've seen teams lose in the SEC tourney and they moved along REAL well. Like Dwight said though, I think these guys realize.there is plenty to work on and no reason to get complacent.

It's hard for anyone to win a conference game on the road this time of year. NC State just obliterated dUKe.

Gotta give credit to EJ, no he's not looking like the next top 5 pick but seems like he always makes a big play at a critical time, same for Sestina many times. This team has developed well and seems like guys are comfortable and know what role they have to play. Anything can happen good or bad but i am enjoying this team and watching it grow...

If JJ and Brooks can give us good minutes off the bench, it would really help. Both seem to be improving and don’t appear to shy away from the spotlight.
