Alabama vs. Kentucky: Game Thread

this has been a pathetic 2nd half and a terrible performance against a mediocre (at best) team.

Nobody said this was a good performance but let’s chill a bit here. We haven’t learned to keep our boot on the other team’s throat, it’s January and they’re young.

With this team I will take the SEC win every time but that second half should not have been that difficult.

Second half was pretty similar to the first. Alabama just hit a few more shots.

Kentucky couldn't keep Bama off the glass in the first half. They couldn't keep them off in the second. Very similar effort.

The fear about this team in the beginning of the season--lack of scrap and fight--is still kind of lingering around. Until we purge it we'll continue to fight with teams we should beat by double digits. Alabama had their hands today on about 30 rebounds off of shots they missed.

UK was favored by 9.5. They won by 9.

I also thought he went with Sestina for too long in the second half. He hurt us in a lot of ways today.

E.J. Montgomery had a sneaky good game and Cal for some reason put him on the bench for way too long. The stats aren't going to show it but E.J. was great in that game.

I got frustrated & nervous in the last 10 minutes of that game---if this had been a road game we probably would lose it!!!!!!

E.J. Montgomery had a sneaky good game and Cal for some reason put him on the bench for way too long. The stats aren't going to show it but E.J. was great in that game.

EJ led the team in +/- today. He was +17

Richards was bad in the second half. Had 11 and 8 in first half and just 2 and 3 in second half with some pretty awful defense.

edit - just got updated. EJ was +19 today. Sestina was -9 (ugh).

Best offensive half of the season.

Followed by Cal's terrible 2nd half offense yet again... I just don't understand. They run plays and sets in the first half and it all looks good. They get a lead in every game and he's goes to that crappy slow it down screen low offense over and over and over and over...

However - the play and yes, it was a play on the inbounds play at the end of the game was a nice call.

Agree... Call it fight, call it hustle, call it a lack of enthusiasm - whatever you want. This still lingers in this team. They get very lazy. Hagans for all the media wants to pump him up and he makes some very good plays, he will follow up with a lack of defense, get blown by and then blame someone else. Sorry but the 10 sec violation is an absolute no-no for a college athlete that had NO pressure on him. That can't and shouldn't happen. What pisses me off about that is that Cal won't pull him. He should have been yanked out right there.

Quickley is becoming a huge threat for us. If we could get Juzang going there’d be a huge offensive problem solved.
