First of all, excited about the season, still think we will be in the hunt but hoping guys like Richards and our bigs are up to the task. Times have changed here in particular, very little discussion about Midnight Madness or even the Blue White scrimmage, i think the enthusiasm is still here but the hackers really messed up our roster here and some folks never came back.

The NBA season just started and i know a lot of us here don't follow it but did anyone see PJ' debut? PJ set a record last night for a NBA rookie, hard to believe. I will be the first to admit, i was critical of PJ his freshman year and i just didn't see it, he proved me wrong, keep telling myself don't quit my day time job.

As Herro, UK fans will be excited to know that he broke Grayson Allen's ankles and made him look stupid, the hatred for Duke and that Christian guys lives on.

Also watched the Lakers and Anthony Davis debut, not sure how i feel about it. Now Davis is second fiddle to a guy who can't even keep his mouth shut during the National Anthem. To me Davis is a star, does not need to be a number 2 option, i can already tell they are trying to turn him into a spot up shooter...

Finally, anyone been following that Gabriel tweet to J. McDaniels that has resurfaced? Maybe there is a little truth to all that, Bam was never allowed to shoot the mid range nor was Karl Towns. Maybe Cal does put the clamps on some of these guys but i also feel that real players real gamers excel no matter what, Cal is a great coach and Kentucky is a great place to play, don't come here if you are not ready to compete day in and day out, there is a reason why UK has more NBA players on a opening day NBA roster than any other school in America. Yes i know i complain about the one and done and would rather see NCAA banners than young millionaires but the new system is what it is...

On that message from Gabriel to McDaniels, I don’t have any issue with it. I understand that some fans think he was undercutting Calipari, but I didn’t take it that way. There’s a lot of truth there, and I don’t see Jaden as a guy that could fix the issues this roster has. He probably should be glad that the message didn’t have any images attached........

I’d love to have had a second year from Herro but maybe Maxey can help assuage his loss.

Let’s hope Sestina and Richards are in great conditioning, and stay healthy!

Herro has shown that he was more than ready to jump. I think Maxey will be better. Don't think there will be any step down at guard.

The major question about this team will obviously be inside. You take a guy like PJ Washington out and replace him with Montgomery, who had maybe three decent games all of last year. And of course then there's Richards. I know Cal is worried about the toughness of this team because I've heard him mention it at least five times over the last month.

OTOH, at the beginning of last year--when things looked really bad--the issue was defense. We just didn't guard until probably January. This team I think will be different in that regard with Hagans and Quickley back, and with Maxey and Whitney looking like they're athletic freakazoids. Believe we'll stop teams much better this season than we did a year ago.

But if Montgomery and Richards aren't ready to play against elite competition this is a team that's going to look like the Ulis/Murray team.

This roster probably has more quality talent top to bottom than the Ulis/Murray team, but the glaring holes in the front court are certainly similar. And, as you mentioned, we have more defensive weapons than that Ulis/Murray team did. That team didn't guard anybody all season, and Yogi Ferrell and Thomas Bryant finally made us eat it in the second round.

Thanks for the birthday wishes and i am just glad to be here. Me having a minor stroke(cant imagine a major ) a few years ago really changed my attitude and humbled me. Not that i still dont like to get a little crazy every now but everyday is truly a blessing. Let's hope we have a great basketball season this year and put together 6 good ones at the end..

I remember the time when this site would automatically throw out a Birthday thread on the General Forum. The good ole days! The site has faded over the years, but I am glad we still can get together and talk the Cayuts here.
