Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

Don't be too quick to judge. It involved his kid. He was trying to spend time with the kid. Situations like this can trigger some pretty intense emotions. He used some pretty threatening language but didn't actually do anything to her.

Something like this saddens me whenever I hear it about anyone. Hope Boogie get everything together.

Which, I believe, is against the law.

At least there is one reasonable post on this thread.

It chaps my at those who automatically think a story is cut and dry. As we all know, the baby momma of those kids is Mother Theresa who would never use her children as weapons against their daddy. Couldn't happen in a million years. All women are pure as the driven snow and men are toxic creatures whose only virtue is bringing home the bacon.

I know, right? Perfectly excusable that he threatened to kill her. I mean, who WOULDN'T threaten to do that?

We loved Cousins because he was talented, a free spirit and didn't take anything from anybody. Very emotional player. Perhaps because of bad fits with different teams and injuries, those emotions got away. I get it. Threatening to harm or kill doesn't go well. Especially when you already have a rep as a wired guy.
let's face it.....the NBA kind of plays to that.
                    so it doesn't surprise me.

I am glad you know the whole story. Why don't you enlighten the rest of us, as it seems that you are a close family friend of both of them.

I've always been curious about UK fans' love affair with Cousins.

I think it's because, as you say, he wore his emotions on his sleeve. You compare this with somebody like, say, the Harrison twins, who were very buttoned up emotionally, and you can see a stark difference. There was something almost childlike about Cousins that UK fans probably gravitated toward.

I have no idea what went on in this particular situation but I've always had reservations about Cousins because of some things I heard about him just before his UK career started. And not devastating things, either, but stuff that went on toward other UK fans behind the scenes. I also wasn't a fan of how he would sit there and scream at Calipari relentlessly during games. It's not the way you would want your son to play the game. (Cousins also loafed. Of all the players I watched during the years I had season tickets, none of them played the game as lazy as Cousins did.)

That said, I get why people like him. We're drawn to that unfiltered, engaging personality. That's true in sports and politics and life.

But I have major problems with the guy and always have. I've found his behavior at times toxic even before this thing hit the news.

I liked Cousins. I'll never forget him on the phone with the President saying "Hello Mr. President, this is DeMarcus Cousins" or when the Mississippi State fans got his cell phone number and started harassing him and he made the call me sign after dunking on them. I think the fans liked him because he seemed to love Kentucky.

But he has issues. And because of his reputation and past actions, he doesn't earn the benefit of the doubt here. Threatening to put a bullet through someone's head is inexcusable and I question anyone's morality who isn't skeptical of a guy who threatens to do that.

I worry for him once he's out of the league and nobody has a bunch of money invested in him.

For years i have defended Cousins and all his actions out of good faith but my opinion changed on him earlier this year watching him play a game when he came back for Golden State. Dude was just guarding him in the post and when Cousins backed him down hard and the ref called a foul on Demarcus, he jumped up into the defender's face for doing his job, i washed my hands with him that day.

As i was saying last week in the Laker's thread, Cousins needs some help and unfortunately, his basketball career is over. With injuries and now this, stick a fork in him, he's done.....

With all due respect, Cousins is a complete a hole. I have defended his kid for years thinking one day the light would click on and he would snap out of it but seems he's only getting worse, he needs help.....
