Regarding the Auburn/UVA game, I thought that double dribble was pretty blatant. I have no problem with them calling that foul, though.

Whoa, please point out to me where I defended the call. I think I said it was a double dribble, didn't I?

Texas Tech defense........mercy. First time I've watched them.
Monday score could be low 50s.

It was a very well called game until it wasn't. One mistake can ruin an entire body of work, and that one mistake in that situation caused Auburn to miss a chance at a championship. I know there were missed calls all game on both sides. No one is perfect and sometimes they don't have the right angle to see the contact or to see who the ball went out on, but there was an official right there watching him pick up the ball with both hands. There's no excuse for that call to not be made. And, I hope you know I am someone who always does my best to be fair to the crew because I understand they have a difficult job. But something needs to be done for situations like this one. I'm not a fan of them going to the monitor, but if that's the only way they can get the call right then do it. Give the coaches challenges in the last two minutes if you have to, but there's no reason a team loses a game like that because of a missed call.

As Barkley and all the announcers pointed out, I didn't see the Auburn bench erupting.

but perhaps an NFL style challenge rule could be thrown in.

The narrative that the officials cost Auburn the game last night is getting old. Did the officials shoot 38% from the field or 29% from 3? Any better from either spot and the last foul doesn't matter. Oh and by the way that last foul is a foul 10 out of 10 times.

The Auburn -UVA game was awesome......loved that the refs let them play in the first half.....hardly any fouls called.....

The foul at the end was a foul but had the DD been called Auburn would have had the ball ... game over.... Auburn wins

I’m not one of banging on the officials. Having been one myself for several years, I understand how difficult it is to call a game.

In a perfect world, a team will perform well enough that the game is not ever in question and a single call or even two could not alter the outcome. But the game of “ifs” is just that, a game...

-if Auburn had played better, they would have won
-if a foul had been called before the DD UVA is taking the ball out in the back court with limited time
-if they had called the DD AU gets the ball-game over
-if AU has not fouled after the DD the shot misses and game is over
-if AU hadn’t fouled on the last shot, they win.

NONE of those “ifs” happened. At the end of the day,...Auburn still had control of the game in the last 1.5 seconds and “if” they had not committed a foul, they are playing Monday night.

I just wish there wasn’t a cloud over the game as it was a really good game that was extremely well officiated between two teams slugging it out.

Looking at the entire game, we would LOVE to have all of our games called the way this one was.

I think what irritates fans is not so much the "judgement" calls that are made (block vs charge) for instance but the obvious ones like travels and in this case the missed double dribble. The foul on the three attempt was absolutely correct but the missed double dribble is the main thing that will be discussed.

If Virginia had lost we may be asking why the kid from Auburn wasn't called for pulling the Jersey of the guy bringing the ball up.

Auburn had it. They didn't keep it.

So six officials have worked the semi's, and that leaves Ron Groover, Chris Rastatter, Michael Stephens and Terry Wymer to work the Championship Game. One will be the alternate.

If Virginia wins it's going to be arguably the luckiest run in the history of the college game.

Very good team. But also extremely fortunate.

Regarding the officiating...I've thought all year, virtually every time I watch Virginia play, that they get away with a lot of stuff. A lot of moving screens, push-offs, chucking players when they try to cut--I'm convinced they teach how to go right to the edge of a foul and then sell it as if it's not a foul. IIRC they've already broken the modern record for fewest fouls committed in a season.

So it makes sense that they'd get a huge break at the end like that. I think if they called the game tighter on them they wouldn't be here.

Probably has nothing to do with the lack of fouls called against them, but Tony Bennett never gets on the officials or at least not in the games I have watched. No screaming, ranting, or etc.

One more tidbit about tonight's game. The same official is assigned the role of alternate for all three final four games, and he is from the PAC-12. That means that in my opinion, one of the worst officials (next to Higgins) is working the Championship game. And he is an SEC official.
