Tough win. Any time you can beat a team that shoots like that from the foul line on their home floor and hits a couple of 25-footers in crunch time, you've accomplished something. UK's had quite a few teams that would've dropped that one.
Still think Hagans is the barometer for this team.
Good Hagans = possible Final Four.
Bad Hagans = possible second round loss.Comment

Also, and it pains me to say this, but Tyler Herro is an NBA player.
And I mean he's an NBA player now. There's no doubt he's a first rounder. He might even go higher than Johnson.
I just don't see any way we keep him for a second year unless he for some reason wants the lottery. Star.Comment

Amazing how Cal finds these guys who are rated lower than the other guys in the class but are able to come in and outperform them.
Tyler Herro is the best player on our team the way Shai Gilgeous Alexander was last year, how Tyler Ullis was the year before, etc. The downside is he probably counts on them being multi-year guys, then they come in and excel.Comment

PJ is the best on the team but Herro is right there.
Best thing about Herro is that he does so many things. Rebounds. Chases loose balls. Not a bad defender. One of the better transition scorers Kentucky has had. Not a great passer but he's never had to pass so that's a part of his game he could learn. And has a ton of things in his offensive game that shakes him loose to get shots: step-backs, jab steps, crossovers, straight line drives, left hand high off the glass, chest to chest stuff. Just a preternaturally skilled offensive player.
If I've got a pick in the high teens/low twenties I wouldn't pass him up. I think he could be a player on the line of Devin Booker.Comment

You're right, PJ is the best. However the broader point about Cal finding lower rated guys that recruiting gurus miss stands.Comment

I thought Richards was an important contributor last night. He only had 6 pts, 4 revounds and 1 blk, and at times he made some dumb plays, especially fouls, but he had a couple rebound/put backs that came at a great time. He's learning and getting extra PT which will pay off when Travis gets back.John 3:3

If Richards works on a few things--gets stronger, gets more confident, stops fouling so much, doesn't let one mistake get to his head, etc.--he could be a player.
The problem with Nick is that his lows are so unfathomably low that when he screws up, it leaves you sitting there shaking your head at the TV screen.👍 1Comment

I thought he did pretty well too. I actually thought he was fairly solid against Tennessee.

I don't know about the rest of you, but that one official that Cal was chewing on, made me nervous. Not sure if he was Anderson or Howard, but when a Coach goes off like Cal did, you have to do something and he did nothing. Case in point, later when Cal was upset with Shows, he issued a warning and Cal calmed down. An official is not there to make friends, they are there to officiate a game. Allowing a coach to go off like Cal did and doing nothing, certainly doesn't gain them respect.John 3:3

Does very little else well. But he's such a good rebounder that he can help you in March, when there's a lot of missed shots.
I don't think Montgomery should shoot anymore unless he's in the shadow of the rim. I'm not sure how many jumpers he's made this year but it can't be more than 4 or 5. For him to be an NBA player he needs to be a Tayshaun-like player, but he's a long way away from that.
But if he can get in there and play with that energy, he could be a big part of our run in March. I've always felt that your average fan doesn't give enough credit to how important offensive rebounding is in the game of basketball.Comment

Tough game last night but we won and that is all that matters, be glad when Reid is back in the lineup..
Anyone notice T. Prince sitting a few rows back from the Kentucky bench last night checking out the Cats?
Last night was a good night for me as a basketball fan, Kentucky won and Boston thumped Golden State at Golden State. For all the years i have supported Cousins and his antics, last night my opinion changed of him, he is a cry baby, he has never won nothing and thinks the basketball world revolves around him, sad.. Baynes took a solid charge on Cousins and he flipped out pointing at him on ground then shoved Tatum, he has some mental issues in my opinion, no other way aroundit. No wonder no one wants to sign him longterm and build a team around him, funny how the Kings are in playoff contention with Fox and Wcs now that Cousins is gone...
