Powerful UCLA boosters want Rick Pitino as coach, report says

Rick Pitino, who led Kentucky and Louisville to national titles, is a top target of two influential UCLA boosters to be the school's next men's basketball coach, Forbes SportsMoney reported Friday, citing an unidentified industry source.
Casey Wasserman, a billionaire UCLA alumnus described by Forbes as being "influential" in the hiring of current Bruins football coach Chip Kelly, and high-powered entertainment lawyer John Branca, who graduated from UCLA Law School, are "going after Pitino, that's their No. 1 choice," the source told Forbes.

I can't imagine any university president who would agree to such a proposal.
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

UL's last national title was 1986 under Crum.

Imagine the trouble Rick could get into in LA.

Desperate people do desperate things. Can't begin to imagine what kind of rock these two boosters have been living under the last 4-5 years. I wonder if they're buddies with Jurich?

UCLA has been accused of having a win at all cost mentality. I guess this confirms it.

*rolling eyes* Well, it's a way to make the Pac 12 relevant again! The women's side is killin it (probably have 5/6 teams in the dance) but the men, not so much!

I can't blame him for wanting out of that gig. I would much prefer Cali to Greece.

Pitino would win at UCLA and he would win big. It's probably his best option at this point.

The FBI fallout isn't completed yet. I would have to think Pitino would have a "show-cause" attached to his name for several years which could make UCLA not an option at all.

If Ucla is like the state of California and the people who run it, they don't give a crap about Rick's past. Plain and simple, they want to win and Rick can do that for them. Rick on the west coast recruting for them could turn them back into a National Powerhouse sooner than later, the irony that Cal wants to chase UCLA titles with Rick being the coach there lol lol lol lol
