Who Will Lead Kentucky in Scoring This Season?

Turns out, this is a really hard question to answer.

It could easily be one of four guys, and I would say there are going to be a group of maybe six or seven players who aren't that far apart.

I'm still going with Keldon Johnson.

I'm going with Keldon Johnson, but I wouldn't be surprised with PJ Washington or Tyler Herro.

Chances are I'm wrong on all three and it's Jamarl Baker.

Probably Johnson,. He looks like the most overall dynamic player. But if Herro or Washington does it wouldn't surprise me.

With so many good scorers, it's hard to tell who might be the average leader at seasons end. I believe there will be at least four that will be within a point or two. Johnson, Herro, PJ and either Travis or Green. Gosh, this is a fun thing to think about.

I would have thought Keldon but having seen the exhibitions so far I'm guessing Herro. Travis has proven he can score at this level. If he'd play around the basket he may lead this team. But since he is only here to prove and improve his perimeter game I doubt he'll be the top scorer.

Not sure that's giving Travis enough credit.

He might take some perimeter shots, but he's a smart guy and seems like a team player. I don't expect him to go rogue or anything, or to do things that help him at the expense of the team. Doesn't seem to fit his MO really.

And actually, I'm not even sure I agree he needs to be around the basket all the time. I think his size is a bit of an issue. Where he could be a real problem is driving people from around the free throw line. Yeah, he'll score quite a bit in the post, but like Julius Randle I think he might be more devastating when he's trying to use his speed to drive bigger players.

I'd be surprised if he takes 20 threes this year.

I am gonna say PJ but Johnson will be right there.

I expect Reid to help the team enormously. But if he didn't intend to market himself differently than the last 3 years there would have been no need to leave the Cardinal or to join the Calipari's.

He's not going to try to be point gaurd but he'll wander the perimeter quite a bit. The NBA is still very much his dream. That's where his size will limit him if he can't hit jumpers.

Is Reid really that quick, though? Randle was able to start working at the free throw line and his speed and strength would usually get him a basket or a foul.

Travis certainly has the strength, but he doesn't strike me as super quick-of-foot.

Seems to be pretty explosive. Saw him in the pro day blowing by people regularly right from the elbow.

Believe this is why they wanted him to cut so much weight. He was playing too heavy in the Bahamas. Cal says they noticed that he couldn't dunk it with ease standing directly under the basket. In the pro day he looked like the most explosive leaper we had.

He isn't a burner but when you're that strong you don't need to go by people. If he can get you on his hip it's over (assuming he has better touch around the basket than he showed in the Bahamas, and I think he does).

Not sure he has the springiness Randle did. Randle could also handle the ball well for his size. Travis is going to be more of a paint player but generally I think the two are pretty similar.

I'm going to say PJ. I hope, and think, that his work over the summer will lead to much improved free throw shooting.
