I'm not one of those dudes who always gripes about how I wish today's NBA was more hardnosed "like the 80s and 90s" -- truth is much of that era's basketball was brutal to watch -- but I also like that there are still a couple of guys in the league that keep it interesting. Sneaky, borderline dirty, no friends in the locker room. It makes for a more interesting game. Let's put it like this: I like that stuff a LOT more than watching LeBron go be buddy-buddy with Chris Paul after the incident. If I was Rondo or Ingram and I saw that, it would tell me all I need to know about LeBron's intentions in LA.

The two worst things that one guy can do to another guy is either to spit on him or hit him in his "junk". Both of these guys have done that and it shows what type of human being they are. Rondo should be suspended for a good long while for doing that even if Paul may have deserved it.
      Kentucky fan since 1971.

This is all true. It's one of the reasons Jimmy Butler's saga is interesting.

But Rondo is just...I don't know. I can't stand the guy. I think it goes back to some of the stories I heard when he was at UK. Nothing major, but just a litany of situations where Rondo tried to belittle people when there was no reason for it.

Well, we all know the Patrick Sparks girlfriend story.

I also have heard from two different UK basketball journalists that Rondo was the worst player they ever followed.

(Unrelated: I had Rondo's niece in class once at Jefferson Community College. She looked dead up like Rondo. Imagine Rajon with a dress and earrings and you'd have this woman. It was crazy.)

The one story I know isn't a story necessarily but more something I heard. (And I think I've told it before on here.) I was at the coach's clinic right before Tubby Smith's last season. We got to Memorial early and the women were practicing. My friend wanted a Coke and he slipped into the gym and asked a men's manager who was over on the side folding towels where the machine was. Manager says, "It's right down here. I'll take you." They go down a dimly lit hallway--Mitch Barnhart's office used to be down there, if you can believe it--and my friend says, "What was the deal last year?"

The manager says, "I'll tell you what it was. Rondo. Nobody could stand him."

Another word for this is a___hole.

A lot is made about Rondo's intelligence. Too much in fact. They used that for years at Boston as a way of explaining why every teammate and virtually the entire management team hated his guts.

A lot of really smart guys go about their business and don't rub people the wrong way. Rondo is sort of like a heel in wrestling.

As KC says, that's what makes him (and Cousins) interesting.

Aside from not getting along with Chris Paul, I don't think DeMarcus Cousins and Rajon Rondo are anything alike.

It seems to me that aside from his volatile temper on the court, Cuz is pretty much adored by the majority of his peers in the NBA. Everybody knows he's a good dude with a great sense of humor... plenty of videos behind the scenes attest to this.

Nobody likes Rajon Rondo behind the scenes, and he seems to revel in that. He is like the heel in professional wrestling, only the NBA isn't scripted (?). Cuz is like the big goof with a bad temper while the game is in progress.

Also, nobody liked Patrick Sparks, either. That guy was an epic prick; I know from personal experience.

Not sure this is true. Cousins is a train wreck.

The difference is probably that DeMarcus Cousins might have emotional and/or mental health issues. Not sure that's the case with Rondo.

A friend of mine has a story about him at a Farmhouse fraternity party and a racial epithet used to describe most of his teammates.
