From coachcal.com's newest member, TJ Beisner. TJ was formerly with KSR and KSTV. Great dude, and really knows basketball, but is not a hype-man like some on KSR can be.

You gotta love what you read here....

Yeah, always liked Beisner. Dude still owes me a T-Shirt from a KSR photoshop contest, though.

Cal says he wants "six or seven" players in double figures next year.

That tells you how high he is on this team.

2012 pretty much had six, with Darius at 9.9. 1996 had a surprising three, but a bunch of guys were in the high single digits. '98 also had three.

That Cal even thinks six or seven is possible is crazy and suggestive that he pretty much loves what he's seen so far.

I think you can pretty much pencil Reid Travis in for double-digits. Keldon Johnson is another guy who's going to be there. PJ Washington should, Ashton Hagans should. That's four.

The other two or three are harder to find. Quade is the first who jumps out, and then EJ Montgomery. But to have that sort of balance it's going to take: (1) consistency from everybody who plays, and (2) sharing the ball.

      We saw neither last season.

With his prediction, Cal obviously believes this team has already bought in to his, play for each other mentality.

A friend of mine went to the tour stop in Wayne County this past weekend.

I'm sure he wouldn't mind me sharing a couple of observations he had (these are not basketball-related necessarily):

Said that the team was very nice, as you would expect at one of these things. The most personable was probably Jemarl Baker. Said he also really liked Reid Travis.

Travis is a huge human. My friend said it's hard to wrap your mind around how big he is unless you're standing next to him. He says he's significantly bigger than PJ Washington. (He said Washington and Quade Green looked undersized relative to their listing on the roster.) I saw a picture of my friend standing next to Travis, and Travis makes my friend (not a small person) look like a child.

Said that John Robic pronounced Ashton Hagans' name with a short a, like the derogatory term for an ugly woman.

He said Robic ran a contest where they had a kid come out and shoot for a variety of things. The first was a lay-up, and the prize was a Gatorade. The kid won it. Robic said, "Okay, you can keep that Gatorade, or you can shoot a free throw. If you hit the free throw you win these UK socks, but if you miss the free throw you get nothing." The kid chose the free throw. Swished it. Robic said, "Okay, you can stop now with the Gatorade and the socks, or you can shoot a three or you can have a UK player shoot a three. If the three is hit, you get this signed Tyler Ulis poster. If they miss, you get nothing." The kid chose Quade Green. Swished it. Robic said, "Okay, you can stop now with the Gatorade, the socks, and the Ulis poster, or you can have a UK player shoot a shot between the three-point line and halfcourt. If they hit it, you get this signed De'Aaron Fox poster. If they miss it, you get nothing." The kid chose Keldon Johnson. Swished it. Robic said, "Okay, you can stop now with the Gatorade, the socks, the Ulis poster, and the Fox poster, or you can have a UK player shoot a halfcourt shot. If they hit it, you get this signed Kevin Knox shoe." The kid chose...Nick Richards. Richards missed.

That poor kid. He obviously has a lot to learn if he chose Richards for a half court shot...

              .
I always get on this site on my phone. I just spent about three minutes deleting everything in your post except for this. I had intended on saying something clever to cover up my inability to process this like "I never use derogatory words for women" or "all women are beautiful in their own way" because, for the life of me, I couldn't think of what you were trying to say. Then, with about two sentences left to delete, it hit me. That's definitely not how I expected it to be pronounced. So, I figured all of that work to delete that much was worthy of a pretty much pointless post.

Quade has realized how large Travis is. Notice he pulled one of my tricks and stood on the step behind him while leaning into his row of players for the picture.

Those are Barbee's feet. Green is standing on the same step as Travis.

Don't think so. Looks to me like Richards and Travis are on the 2nd, Quade on the 3rd and Barbee on the 4th.

Barbee is behind and a step above Quade. If Quade and Travis were on the same step then Travis is about 6'3"

Silly me. I just paid attention to Green and Barbee being on different steps.
