From what I see its mostly a lot of idealistic thinking. Yes we know the problems but what are the solutions and what plan do we implement to fix them? Not much of that part was addressed. They needed a commission that involved the NBA and maybe even folks at AAU to try to fix things. Most of this can't be fixed without the NBA's help. They have a free minor league system so why would they care? College basketball is slowly sinking away and to be honest there isn't much anyone can do about it unless they want to totally overhaul the whole thing. I'm not sure anyone really has the interest in doing that.
    Kentucky fan since 1971.

As Lighthouse and others pointed out, the NBA is what has to pull the trigger. Until the Players association embraces the no OAD policy, it's no go.
the NBA has intelligent men that will recognize at least one of these penalties...the scholly freeze....would eventually crash the college game. I don't mean to sound snide or belittling, but the only teams playing eventually would be Ivy League.....and I don't think the NBA wants that to be their only recruiting/ development base.

I'd say the NCAA felt the need to wash the egg off it's face after the FBI sting. They therefore appointed a task force with a big name chairperson to come in and sternly tell them how to not fix anything. Keeping up appearances.

Indiana's Archie Miller with a good suggestion on how to cut down the wild number of players who declare for the draft:

I agree with the advisory council - hasn't Cal suggested the same thing?

But let's be clear: the NCAA has no interest in actually fixing the problem, because they're still confused about what the actual problem is.

I don't see Archie's recommendations as anything earthshattering. Wouldn't the advisory council basically be doing what whoever decides who gets the combine invites is doing? Of course the NBA doesn't want to evaluate 300 players in a combine but someone already determines who gets invited. I have trouble following his point about LeBron and the Cavs.
