    Introduce Yourself

It's been a while since we've done one of these. We have some new members so this will give us a chance to get to know everyone. Tell us a little about the person behind the keyboard. Family, career, hobbies, other sports teams you follow, etc.

My name is Brian, I am 30, and just got married in November! We've been together over eight years, bought a house a little over three years ago, and had the perfect wedding. We planned it in about three days, had 11 people there, and it cost us under $1000. It was awesome.

I currently work in a chemical factory. I was in the health insurance industry for a while and hated that setting, so I carried my degree and experience into the blue collar world. I am actually changing it up this summer and buying a distribution business July 2nd (if you're an accountant I need you!) because I am tired of working for the man. I'll be the CEO, CFO, HR, complaint department, customer service, carrier, and everything else under the sun for my business. It's a risk, but it has proven to the current owner (who's had it over 30 years) to pay off big time. Here's to hoping.

We currently have no children and have no plans of growing our family. My wife is 27 so we have a few years for that to change. We have some pretty crazy dreams we aren't finished chasing yet, so maybe one day.

We have two dogs. A 130 pound lab/golden retriever (Wilson) and a 20 pound who knows what (Roxie.) We stole the little one from a lady on our street because she wasn't taking care of her.

My main hobby is fishing (my wedding ring is a largemouth bass) and I enjoy hunting, shooting, archery, and other junk. I bought a bass boat eight years ago and travel around fishing tournaments.

I was born and raised in Louisville. I actually went to UofL (it was free, be easy on me) and worked there while on campus. We currently live in Bullitt County.

I started cheering for the Cats when I was young, maybe six or seven. My cousin started school at UofL and I cheered for UK just to be a pest. It just stuck. I follow the Detroit Lions but no other sports teams. I watch the NBA some, but don't have a certain team. I don't believe I have ever watched an entire baseball game.

I joined WCN in 2005, I believe, but it may have been 2006. I only know one of you outside of here (TBCF recruited me. I went to high school with her daughter) but feel like I know all of you so well. I enjoy checking in every single day (I believe it has been at least once a day since joining with the exception of being overseas years ago) and have shared many personal conversations with a few of you. I feel this is one of the best message boards around!

What's going on in your world?

I'm Casey. 33 years old. I have a wife named Megan, a one year old daughter named Riley, and I work for Humana. I love the Cats, long walks on the beach, and delightful Will Lavender puns. I've been a poster on this fine board since around 2005 (Holy crap). Before joining in earnest, I browsed the old Wildcat Faithful boards.

Hey. I'm John (SCBlu). Reared in Detroit (hence fan of Lions/Tigers/Red Wings/UM), undergrad at Georgetown College ('67); USMC 4 years (infantry/artillery); UK Law School; USMC JAG 4 years; partner, Greenville, SC law firm 30 years; retired to Lake Keowee, SC in 2010. Six grand kids, adore them all. Eldest recently selected 4-A All-State High School Basketball (Very good high school player but, regrettably, not UK caliber). Four dogs (Cavaliers & Cavashons), two parakeets, home mortgage and committed to my fantasy baseball team.
Attended first UK basketball game at Memorial Coliseum in '64 and first UK football game at Stoll Field in '64. Have been diehard Wildcat fan ever since. Especially enjoy tracking WCN daily because of the meaningful contributions of so many members who value civility and honest commentary. GO BIG BLUE!

        Lol...okay
I'm Bill....and have no imagination as far as user names.

60 years old, trying retirement. Married for 34 years.
Lost Dad 19 years ago and still see him in my mind every day. Mom went to a better place two years ago.
Lost both sons to legal issues (theirs) three months after mom passed. My granddaughter was taken to North Carolina a year later, after we had helped raise her for nine years and had custody for a year. (Found there are no grandparents rights in Kentucky, even though mother had been out for six years)

Love Kentucky sports...football more the past few years.
        St Louis Cardinal baseball
Any NFL team playing against the Cowboys.
Learned more about sports from Lighthouse, Matt Dillon, Will Lavender and RV posts than I should admit.

I am Frank. 47 years young. Born in Louisville, raised on the Okolona/Fairdale line and currently live in Bullitt County. I have been married for 18 years and have a 16 year old Daughter. I have been working at UPS for the past 29 years and I love my job.

I have lots of hobbies/ interests but my main one is fishing. No family member or friends fished much when I was growing up so I am pretty much self taught though years ago youtube really taught me some things. Bass fishing and panfishing are my creel. From wading creeks to fishing strip pits or farm ponds, I like the smaller bodies of water. I caught two 6 lbers within 15 minutes of each other in 2009 and that is my personal bests. I love fishing plastic worms for bass. Slip bobbers and crickets or wax worms for bluegill and jigs for crappie. I also love to hike, go camping, and shooting.

Been on this site since 2005 and was a WCF member about a year after inception. I was Frankbigblue1 there. I love this site and there seem to be some really good folks here. I have only met a few of you, but I know good people when I see 'em.

Other than the Cats, I am a huge Cowboys fan. My first memory, though really vague, were those Steeler matchups in the 70's. I like the Celtics though I dont watch the NBA no where near like I used to. The 80's were the heyday of the NBA and IMO that's when it was the best. Larry Bird is the best player of all time and nothing is gonna change my mind about that. It's fast approaching the sports downtime for me because I hate baseball and golf with a passion.

If you love soft plastics have you tried the fightin' bug by Powerbait? It's insane. It's a crawfish and they injected/filled the Pinchers with air so they float when the bait is on the bottom. That's how crawfish defend themselves and show aggression by raising their claws and opening them. It really ticks off bass.

I'm Paul. 45 yrs old (better get this in quick as will be 46 REAL soon). Lifelong Cat Fan. Graduated from UK then IU for grad school (was no optometry school in KY till recently). Have a great wife and 3 awesome kids. Love UK, Reds (ouch), Denver Broncos, PGA, and hunting (mainly turkey but some deer as well). Also love music but can only play the stereo. 4 years in Bloomington were my only time living outside central KY. Any time with family is heaven to me. Can't wait for youth turkey season with my boys in another week and a half.

Followed this site since late Tubby years and started throwing in my 2cents worth after the "crash." My 2cents worth may actually be worth about 1cent. Enjoy many/pretty much all of your opinions and observations about our beloved Cats. Thanks.

My name is Danny, from the big town of Stanford, south of Lexington. 1980 UK from Engineering Dept, which will tell you that I'm 60 yrs. young. Met my wife at UK and we were married the summer before our senior year. Got my first job in central Tennessee and we've been in the area ever since. When I first came here, UK fans were few and far between. See them everywhere I go now in Nashville and all surrounding towns.

Started following the Cats as long ago as I was able to understand the concept of basketball. My dad, who passed in '97, was an avid UK BBall fan and we listened to every game on the radio. Really miss those days. The last game I got to actually see with him on TV was the Duke/UK (Laettner) game. He did live to see the '96 team win the championship, but I was in Tennessee at the time watching with my own sons. Of that, have 3 sons and one daughter - all UK fans though none have gone back there. All graduated from Tennessee schools.

Started following this site almost at its inception. Do not post as I once did, though. Nice to put stories with those you see on here every day.

Glad this thread was started, it's always good to "kinda catch up" and also for those who haven't participated in the previous such threads.

I'm 31 now (going on about 65) and work as a physician assistant. The company I work for supplies ER and Hospitalist staffing, and over the last 2-3 years we've experienced great growth. Currently most of our work is in Southern Ohio, and we still have locations in EKY, WV, and Southern Ohio. So we stay busy in a good way.

The last few years unfortunately have seen great decline in the amount of UK Games I actually watch, but I check WCN and KSR daily at least to read about what I missed. I "don't think" my fandom has slipped much, just I work a decent amount and usually at odd hours. I have a difficulty switching between my stretches of night shift, the days that I pick up, and then just getting back on pace for my time off. I've noticed I'm not nearly as productive in life outside of work, so let's just call that objective evidence that it's not just a loss of UK interest

As far as interests I still enjoy the outdoors, fishing (even though I haven't been since I began my career), recreational shooting, cooking/outdoor cooking, and bugging my dog Rex. He's about ~10 now and still gets buck nasty on occasion. I also enjoy automotive topics and am blown away by the car industry at the moment, engineering on display is special .

I do worry about the drug epidemic and I don't know where that will lead our society here in the trip-state area.

                        George here!

I've had three previous lives (will be 70 in September). I taught and coached here in Jefferson County, I was in the IT field for several years and ultimately retired from UPS. UPS was the best 'real' job I ever had; the best job was Pizza Hut while in Grad school at UK-that's another story.

I grew up in Okolona and am a graduate of Southern, Bellarmine and UK (twice). While at UK, I talked to Adolph Rupp one afternoon at Memorial Coliseum; I was star-struck said, 'hello'. He grunted at me and continued walking. I spent too much time attending all sports at UK and my GPA reflects it. These days, I watch BB only if the Cats are playing but can watch college FB at any level, any time

Currently I live in Middletown and, amount other things, enjoy bourbon and going to the gym but not in that order

Hello, I'm Chris and I've been on here for just 4 years. I been a Follower of the Way (Jesus) for over 43 years and been married to my young bride for nearly 33 years. We have to grown children, 28 and 27 years of age and 2 furbabies. I've been employed for Kroger manufacturing for over thirty years and hope to retire within the next 5. We live on the far western side of Kentucky in Mayfield so we are avid Murray State Racer fans as well as CAT fans.

Kelly and I have been volunteering at a Christian Sports kamp in Branson Mo called Kids Across America for the last 6 years. It's a kamp for inner city youth from all over the country. Truly a blessing to work with them. We also have followed our hearts and started a cycling team that fundraises for St Jude Childrens research Hospital. We started this 5 years ago and have been one of the top money raisers for the event since we formed. I love my Wildcat basketball, hunting, and just serving others. Blessings to each of you.

My name is Drew, I’m 58 year old substance abuse counselor. Have 3 sons all grown and all bigtime U.K. fans. I grew up in Hickman Ky then went to high school in Nashville. Played football at WKU for a couple of years and tore up my knee. Ended up graduating from UT Martin after a4 year stint in the USN. I am a fan, my example , when U.K. played Georgetown in Final Four I was in Med on an LPD, the CO called me of all the crew to listen to Caywoods call on the Armed Forces radio network in his cabin. I contracted the U.K. Virus at age 8. My father was the Basketball Coach atFulton County High School. Rupp usually had tickets sent to a lot of Kentucky coaches for select games. Dad took me to Memorial, and after the game I got to go down on the court with him and shake the great mans hand, fan for life after that. I remember so clearly Dad and I sitting in his den and listening to Caywoods call of every game, very little TV in those day.
