    Shoe co and Bagley

Pretty good read about how the Bagley family declared bankruptcy and then moved into a high rent gated community.

Bankruptcy doesn't mean you are poor it just means you can't handle your money. I know are lady who has been a nurse for years. Makes great money and filed bankruptcy. Donald Trump filed on some of his businesses.

You are correct but their total income was listed at 44k. So what changed for them to afford a place that on the low end rented for 2500 a month??

Sure, but nothing was said about them being poor. Per the article, they filed bankruptcy in 2008 declaring income of $44k, and their home was sold in a trustee's sale in 2011. By 2015 they listed an address in a gated community with homes ranging to 7 figures - this, just after Nike sponsored his team. If it walks, farts and smells like a duck.......................
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

I know but there is a stigma that seems to go with bankruptcy. This thing does stink to high heavens though.

In all reality, some folks file bankruptcy as a business decision and it actually works out better for them finacially in the long run. Still i expect something shady involved here especially if a shoe company is involved...

Regardless of what “bankruptcy” means does anybody here really doubt what is going here

Not at all but since it is a Duke player involved, under the rug it will go.

I read this and my first thought was, "So?". Shoe companies funneling money to the parents of star players strikes me as appropriate rather than scandalous. Further, any UK fan that thinks "Our AAU recruits aren't involved in this sort of stuff" needs to get a clue. It's great that this is going to be brought into the light.

Certainly, as it pertains to maintaining amateur status. The recruit isn't being paid, his parents are. If the letter of the rule is followed, seems there's not a rule broken, but it's sure bent all to hell.

That said, I think an argument can be made that the payment was procuring his services in exchange for future negotiations.

And I think that is fine. "Armature status" has been totally BS concept that didn't exist at power 5 schools since, forever.

I get that athletic departments can't pay a star his true market value, but shoe companies and agents can. So let them.
