What i got from this is Cal's way of calling out for help and showing he's actually human. No ego here, our Coach is working hard trying to find the answers under all the pressure of coaching at Kentucky. One thing i have learned from Cal over the years is that he absolutely does not like to lose. As mad as we get, i think it irks him even more, losing is not in his vocabulary...

I would imagine we'll have four or five test. The only chance Diallo has if he just Briscoes it, but that would be dumb. Not a pro; horrid gaps in his game that anybody with one eye can see. Made a mistake by playing this year but if he would've jumped after last season he'd already have the stigma of a poor-shooting tweener who can't handle the ball great and whose decision-making is atrocious. That's something that can stick on a player, but coming back holds a lot of risk for him as well: some guys never learn to shoot.
I would imagine Washington and Vanderbilt will test, as they should. Washington isn't close. Vanderbilt has a great body and skillset but he will likely be taking a monumental risk.
Shai is so wildly beyond anything anybody thought he would be he has to go. Knox has the NBA body but I think there will be questions about his maturity and youth; imagine he'll only return if he wants to make a run at the lottery.Comment

Kentucky generally doesn't have players taking this many major risks because we always have better players.
In the years that resemble this, '13 and '14, we had a couple go. Nobody else took a wild chance because it turned out the experts saw what we did: the players weren't that good. The chance wasn't there for them to take.
When these players go they're usually either can't-miss freaks or they're jumping in on situations where everybody is going and they ride along on the current, Marquis Teague style.
The NBA isn't going to want most of these guys. They can't play the game yet. There's a reason we have trouble and are woefully consistent: it's individual personnel. That's not some secret mystery that only we're privy to.Comment

I like Vanderbilt, but he's nothing like MKG.
MKG was running a breakfast club at 6:00 in the morning. Putting up about 12 and 8 for a near-juggernaut national champion. Defending the hell out of guards every night. Splitting time with a senior who's putting together a decent NBA career in his own right.
Vanderbilt has a really good future I think. But comparing him to MKG right now is a total insult to MKG. They are not even in the same conversation right now. Jarred Vanderbilt needs to prove to people he can make two-footers and then we can talk about professional basketball with him.
People knew Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was going to be a winner--and a pro--when he was 15 years old.Comment

Agree with you 100%... Vanderbilt is not MKG... Vandy looks great with the ball in his hands, good passer, pretty intense while in the game and honestly has done a really good job on the boards. But, I don't think he's where MKG was - especially with the ability that MKG had with the ball in his hand or on the block. Vandy can't shoot at all - my 70 year old mom shoots better. : )Comment

I am forcing myself to hang on to this year. When I say forcing I mean I at least check the score. I have watched very few games this year, which is unheard of for me. If we start over again next year I feel it will be over for me for a while. I dont say that out of protest or anger, just having a hard time connecting. I actually hate it too. UK basketball gets me though the winter. I dont want to lose it.Comment

Welcome to reality, folks. I've been saving you a seat for a while, now.
I think we go 4-4, but 3-5 is definitely possible.
I'm still where I was a while back; this team will need a strong run in the SEC tournament to make it in.
I think we are going to the NIT. And, if we do, I think it could be a great run.
It was said at the beginning of the season, that if you were pining for a team with familiar faces, this was it. You're looking at what it's like to have a team with guys who aren't good enough to make the leap. The direct consequence of that is that you have a team that simply isn't good enough to be in contention to win its own, very average, conference.
