FWIW, Kyrie Irving returned just for the tournament. Not comparing JV to Kyrie, but in theory JV could jump in there at any time.

Jarred Vanderbilt did some really great things tonight. A bright spot in a rather dark postgame.

If anybody thought that the reason for him not playing was because of his injury it was easy to see last night that that's probably not the case.

After his first run he limped all through that game. You would hope that he can work himself up to where he's fine, but if it keeps going like that they may have to just shut him down.

Just the little bit I watched he was limping. Not good and I think you are correct. He may very well be shut down. It will be interesting to see if they say anything about how he feels today after logging some minutes last night.

The limping didn’t really start until he took that spill next to the basket.

This is neither here nor there really, but I did go to an early-season practice once and watch Joe Crawford limp like an old man as Billy Gillispie verbally abused him.

The practice lasted for probably two and a half hours, and Crawford limped for two and a half hours. Gillispie screamed at him mercilessly the entire time, and Joe just did everything Gillispie said without a word.

By the end of that year Crawford was completely fine.

Not saying Vanderbilt's situation is in any way similar, but you would hope the limp is just because he hasn't played on the foot for any sustained stretch.

In addition to benefitting from JV’s obvious skill, a major reason why I hope he’s good to go is he’ll allow Cal to stuff Hami waaaaaaaay back in the dog house. That kid needs a time-out.

Sees his draft stock slipping and he's freaking out, IMO.

Too: this is what happens in the game of basketball if you can't shoot. It can get really frustrating. We saw it from Briscoe. If you're a "shooting guard" and your shot is broken, you're going to inevitably have nights filled with pain and torture.

I thought I saw them working on his knee. Not his ankle. In fact, they put a brace on it (or he may have already had it on. Not sure)
I pray he can continue because he adds other dimensions this team really needs, IMO. Energy..good passing.

He’s filling too many of my nights with pain and torture.

Seriously though: I don’t dislike him. He’s one of many who, in a different time when three/four years in college was the norm no matter the player’s talent, he’d turn out to be a fine player. He’s being asked to do way too much.
