The WCN Prediction Contest Rolls On: LSU Edition

So the Cats roll into Baton Rouge tonight at 8:30.

LSU is an interesting team. What appeared to be a dog on paper has turned out to be an okay basketball team that has put up some pretty strong offensive numbers. They're 9-3, but were smashed by Notre Dame in their only marquee game. They're also a top 25 offensive team according to Pomeroy.

Their best player by far is freshman and former Georgetown commit Tremont Waters. Waters came in as a top 40 player and has been way better than the folks at LSU hoped. He's averaging 17 a game and shooting 50% from behind the arc. He can win games single-handedly if you let him. Tremendous offensive player.

LSU doesn't have a whole lot inside, but this is a team that averages 85 points a game, they're playing at home, and it's their conference opener. Kentucky has lost games like this in the past.

Kentucky is only favored by 4.5.

I know nothing about LSU other than what Will wrote. I think they do have a decent 6-11 player from Australia that could give Richards and others inside some fits. I read this morning this still wasn't a sell out in Baton Rouge but they are having a "Gold Out". Like any other SEC road game this will THE game for LSU this season at home. Also the first true road game for this UK bunch. So it will be interesting to see how they react. The game is at 8:30 pm on the SEC Network. Tom Hart and Jon Sundvold are scheduled to be the announcers.

Cats have to be better than they were against UGA or this will be a loss. LSU is not good, this is a road game that UK really needs to win as there are going to be much more difficult games coming up.

A note on the scoring of the WCN Prediction Contest, because I know you all are on pins and needles:

I'm going to award 10 points for every first place finish, 5 points for second, and 3 points for third.

Whoever has the most points at season's end gets the Gremlin/million dollars/plaque that says BEST POSTER (still deciding on that grand prize!). We'll figure a tie out if it comes to that but it'll probably involve feats of strength and/or bribery that benefits me.
