I will wait until February before drawing any hard and fast conclusions about what this team can and cannot accomplish. We go through this almost every year with the one-and-dones. One of the big changes this year seem to be the quality of the SEC teams. Our league seems to have kicked it up at least two notches. I agree that the guys need to learn that defense doesn't only refer to what you put up around a feel to keep the horses or cows from wandering away. It's a difficult thing to learn for these kids since they've always been praised for their offensive skill set. They have the athletic ability needed. The question has always been whether they can get it together in February and be prepared for March. Happy New Year!

If I had a choice. I would rather lose to UCLA and beat UL than the other way around. I don't see UK losing at home, to any team. Home court is huge for a young team.

It concerns me to Cathy. UL is a different kind of team than UCLA, but may be better. I worry about Snider and Adel lighting it up from 3, and Spaulding and Mamaud inside. We better be ready to defend.

Right now I see us as a fairly easy team to beat if you have just a little bit of talent. All you have to do is stay the course. Be consistent for as much of the 40 minutes as you can and you will probably come out on top. Not sure our young cats can maintain a level of consistency to beat most elite teams right now.

Talked to my Wife's uncle at Christmas. He's been a Rupp season ticket holder since the place opened. He didn't renew this year. He doesn't like driving home from weekday 9 pm games anymore. His other reason is that he just finds it hard to care about the team anymore. He wants to watch these kids grow. I could not agree more. This model is tired and played out. The "they are freshman" excuses is old. It's just not he and I. About every UK fan I talk to are tired of it. I read those same sentiments on here. I am tired of the constant turnover. Of course I root like hell for the guys, but I have only watched two full games this season and I am just not upset that I have missed the other 9. What does that mean? It's hard for these new guys every year to become a TEAM when it feels like we are just being used. Make no mistake, the results have been good but I HATE the model. Fire away if you wish. I just don't care that much anymore.

I have seen nothing that leads me to believe we will be ready to play defense. Nothing.

Definite feel that UK basketball is trending downward, to me at least. I like Cal, just don’t like the culture he has brought to UK, wouldn’t be unhappy if he moved on soon, and it has nothing to do with WS Or Ls

I'm assuming by culture you mean the one and done players. While I have been loud and long writing against it, it IS the model Nationwide the top teams use....North Carolina was an abberation. Duke, UCLA, Arizona....all the teams folks expect to be in the mix have players that are itchy to go after one year and frantic to leave after two.
the NBA collective bargaining agreements have created this, the NCAA doesnt really have any way to control.
If college football didn't have the benefit that the NFL has an age/ class level rule, college football would be in the same shape.

Calipari didn't create the system, he just managed to make it work in an unbelievable fashion.

If he decides to leave, I would wager any top coach would continue the one and recruiting.

I am doing everything in my power to try and relate to this team. Freshmen fitting in with veterans was always cool to see. I dont know this team. Its just too much this year. Also, I do not blame Cal for it, no way to recruit less effectively. Not his fault. I am a huge defender of Cal when it comes to this. However the new culture has taken a toll on me as a fan. I didnt even watch the end of the UCLA game. Just had no emotion in it. Glad to know it isnt just me.

Being a life long fan, don’ Want to think the program is sliding. Needs tweaking. Can’t imagine who could replace Cal. He has to be aware of the fan restlessness. We shall see. Players first???? The fans are important too

You can have the whole team back next year but is that a good thing? Cal's selling point is " i bring you in and get you ready for the NBA in one year". As history has shown, he's more loyal to the new comers than he is the veterans, , next year will be no different.

Im going back to what i said from the very the start, we do not have a elite point guard and our best lineup will include Diallo playing the point on this team even if he's playing off the ball. Alexander and Green are not elite and i would rather have a high flying guy like Diallo with the ball in his hands and getting to thte rim, Cal used Tyreke Evans like this , he can do it now with Diallo. If Vanderbilt can make it back and is as good as advertised, Diallo, Knox, Vanderbilt, Richards, and maybe Gabriel are my starting 5 when it counts, i think it gives us the best chance to win.....

As for PJ Washington, stop flexing and all that other bs, play basketball and get engaged.

I started off watching until the 1st half was over, hit record, turned it back on with 2 minutes left. I understand the one and done and why but i hate the fact our offense is always so average and why does Cal not go out and get great shooters??? The game has turned into a 3 point contest and the slash dribble drive is not doing these players any favors especially if they are moving on to the next level where teams are looking for shooters now a days.......

Disagree, completely. I've seen Diallo with the ball in his hands, and he simply doesn't have the control, in any way. Additionally, Green is the best three point threat we can put on the floor, with the exception of maybe Brad Calipari. Green is the best point guard option we have, but you are correct on one point: That Green is our best option does indicate we are lacking a true and effective lead guard.

Also, yeah, PJ should set down his "blue chip" mindset, and put on a blue collar. I see a legitimate ceiling in his game. He's an unskilled, undersized, PF, who can only compensate for that with work ethic. He needs to see himself more as a Chuck Hayes, and not a Chuck Barkley. Because "he ain't." JMO.
