    Change the Outcome

    Stolen idea alert:

If you could change the outcome of one Kentucky basketball game which one?

I was only four when we lost to you know who in 92. I think for me it would have to be Wisconsin. I think we handle Duke in the title and get 40-0.

Wisconsin. No ifs, ands, or buts. All day every day for the rest of my life. Wisconsin.

Agreed, Wisconsin game was a fluke in my opinion, we beat them 99 out of a 100 times, i firmly believe that....

So very, very tempting to say Wisconsin. And, I have no argument with those of you who make that choice. But, that was only a semi-final game and we would still have to win one more. So, for that reason ONLY, I think I might go with UConn in the title game the year before. But, this is a tough one. Do you go for the potential historical high and choose Wisconsin, or the sure thing and choose UConn? Tough call, IMO.

This gets further complicated by this issue: If we win the title the year before, do all of those guys come back? And, if they do NOT come back, are we an even better team the following year, with guys like Booker and Lyles and Ullis getting more PT?

Nothing is ever as simple as it seems.

VERY good point. I think the 15 team beats Duke in the finals but that game would have been a battle.

            There are so many I can think of - 92, 93, 97, 03, 11, 14, and 15.

I may go with 1997 because that would give UK three in a row which is unheard of post UCLA.

Tough....as much as I want to pick 15 I think I would have to pick a game that gives us another title.

Wisconsin but I think UK would have had a very tough game against Duke in the final. A loss to them may have been more unbearable. But beating Wisconsin would have kept the undefeated dream alive.

Here's a few more off the top of my head.

1975 final against UCLA. Win that one and UK is only one behind them for most titles.

1983 loss to UL in the first Dream Game.

1984 semi final against Georgetown. That 84 team was a great team that deserved a better ending than they got.

1986 loss to LSU in the regional final. A fun team to watch that should not have had to have played a 2nd SEC tournament in the NCAA's.

2003 against Marquette. One of my favorite teams that played a very hot team with their best player (Bogans) injured. Just some really bad luck for this one.

1977,1995 and 2017 losses to UNC in regional finals. All very bitter losses. Really good teams that came up just short against a hated rival.
              Kentucky fan since 1971.

I'm still pissed about the 1975 UCLA loss in the National Championship game and it was 42 years ago LOL. We got hosed!!!!!

97 Arizona for me as well. 3 in a row would have been incredible. And who knows, back to back championships might have kept Pitino around and the all time list could look very different.

I can't say Wisconsin because I think Duke would have beaten them. 39-0 and a loss to Duke in the finals would have been hard to stomach.

1975 title game. 2 banner swing in total NC's. Wisconsin a close second.
