I was wondering why the guys on espn radio were joking about that just a few minutes ago. They then went about wondering what he called them and decided if the names were "old people" enough or not. Funny stuff.

WaPo engaging in irresponsible journalism with the headline, considering he was investigated for a year by the FBI and the Army and they decided not to bring charges.
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

I just had a feeling that this may be the tip of the iceberg... It looks to be pretty something that goes on quite a bit... I've been joking about Bill Cosby on the show and then Leo talked about Knight and it remained me of the Darren Sharper thing and then just recently, there was another guy cut from the Vikings for the same thing... I can't remember his name.

Michael Bennett? He was a RB who used to play for the Vikings and recently got in some trouble, but I can't recall the crime.

This isn't the same thing if no charges were ever brought in Knight's case.

The headline probably should have gone on to say no charges were brought, but it's not an inaccurate headline. It also sounds like a serious incident. The fact that he was at this intelligence agency and left pretty serious chaos in his wake--including stuff that's going to possibly be tried in civil court--is strange.

No one said it was inaccurate. It's certainly misleading and disingenuous. The CJ did the same thing by running the WaPo story and when called on it, claimed they were merely running with the WaPo headline - even though the article linked was from the Indianapolis Star.
I understand the reason they do it. Knight's an inflammatory figure and heading an article with "Knight Investigated for Groping, Assault Results in No Charges" wouldn't generate as many hits.

                Still smells of tabloid journalism.

^ I agree about the more hits thing. Not sure it's "tabloid journalism"; when I think of tabloids I think of "Demon Baby Weds Santa Claus!" The thing about this particular headline lies only in its verbiage; the fact that it's correct means that it can't have the tabloid label laid on it. IMO.

But let's be honest. (And I realize this is a different discussion for a different thread.) But does anybody think this hasn't been common operating procedure for Bobby Knight for well on four decades?

Smelly indeed. Knight is an easily despised figure, that's why he's such an easy target. Did he use this to his advantage? Who really knows. I remember the dUKe Lacrosse scandal, and because of that, I take these things with a grain of salt. If the evidence is overwhelming then I can change my stance. Until the evidence against Knight leaves no room for doubt, then I am calling B.S.. This sort of stuff is made up all the time. You have to convince me.

As much of a turd that Bobby was at IU and the fans still worshiped him, I see similarities with Ricky P at UL and their fan base. What does a coach have to do, for the fans to shun them? Yes, I prefer to have a winning team. That being said, even though I had to suffer through the latter years of Tubby and the huge hiring mistake of Billy G, at least the worst of Slick Ricky will be tied to UL. The shenanigans that happened with the slickster in Lexington did not make the press, just word of mouth. For that, I am thankful.

Tomato-tamahto. I'm thinking more along the lines of NY Post, The Sun, The Daily Mail. Those are tabloid newspapers. Misleading headlines. Same theme.

Boorish, offensive behavior, sure. Decades long operating procedure of groping and sexual harassment? News to me.
