Rothstein's Top 25 for Next Season

Kentucky sits at #4, which I think is fair. He has Michigan State at #1 because of the Bridges return, and also Wichita State at #9. I've seen a couple of polls that have Wichita State as high as #2.

Why's Syracuse fallen off so badly in the last couple or three years? Did the NCAA stuff hurt them that severely?

I'm glad, and hope we don't get a #1 ranking. I think it puts to much pressure on freshmen, and especially this class which is so young.

Gary Parrish has Kentucky at #5 as well, but Arizona at #1 and Wichita State at #4.

Wichita St should be really good next year. Playing in a tougher conference now but still should not have too many issues winning it.

I think at this point Arizona and KU are the clear top teams. Followed by some combo of UK, Duke, UL, Wichita St, Mich St.

I think Kansas looks a little uneven unless you buy Azubuike and Malik Newman. Graham is very good but was dragged forward a little by Mason.

If last year's team couldn't do it it's hard to see this version of Kansas making a title run.

That said, it'll be a much more watered-down year.

Re: Arizona, who's clearly the best team on paper...I still think there's a chance Ayton doesn't play.

Agreed, but it looks like it will be another down season in college basketball next year. KU returns 5 of top 8 scorers plus get Azubuike back, add Malik Newman and Billy Preston...pretty darn solid lineup. I don't think KU will be a world beater but I don't think anyone else will be either.

Re: Ayton - if he isn't eligible than Arizona definitely drops down a peg. Still good but probably only top 10-15 team

I wouldn't be so high on Duke. Their likely starting lineup includes three freshmen, one sophomore, and a lunatic senior.

Obviously we know that young lineups can win, but we also know that they can struggle. And if last season was any indication, we also know that Coach K isn't Coach Cal when it comes to managing youth.

Speaking of dUKe....ESPN named "the lunatic tripper" the #1 player in the country for next year.... lol

It didn't work out quite so well last year, but that's not stopping us from once again putting Grayson Allen atop the list. Will any of the names below him -- some familiar faces, some new ones you'll learn in a hurry -- pass him by?

I disagree with so much of the list I don't even know where to start.

Might be 1 too many dookies on the ESPN payroll.

ESPN is less than a shell of what it once was....

I literally only turn it to one of their channels when a UK game is on there......it's a complete joke now.

Those recent layoffs tell you everything.

He didn't mention Angelo Ball as part of UCLA starting or bench?
