It was definitely one of those weekends in the sport. Teams are getting bored and tired. You see stretches like this every year where seemingly every top 10 team goes down. Winning on the road in this game is brutally tough, and if you aren't focused and have just come through two solid weeks of doing nothing but practice, it can take a toll.
Parity is what makes the game great but it's also maddening.Comment

This from the ESPN story about that game. "After losing several key members from last year's squad, holding an open tryout this fall and dropping an exhibition game to Division II Western Oregon, expectations for Oregon State this season were low."
For all the issues with UK the last couple of games...... they have yet to lose to a team like this or Rutgers.

The landscape definitely looks a lot different now than it did a week ago. Kentucky's offense is susceptible to the pack-in, and Duke isn't a good defensive team. Their guards just cannot handle certain kinds of players, and Okafor a lot of times doesn't even try to guard. Kentucky has those same kinds of issues but on the offensive side.
So it looked for awhile that it was a two-team race. And I still think Duke and UK are the most dangerous teams. But this weekend rearranged some things in this game.

No need to panic whatsoever, that I see. The team goes through a weird spell virtually every single season, yet we find ourselves playing deep into March more often than not. It's a little aggravating that some recent conversations around here sound like they were taken straight from February of last year.
2012 We had more than a few games like the last two. No panic here either. It's hard to win games on the road in ANY conference. Hell, it's just hard to win a game at all. Especially when you are Kentucky. We are the most hated program in the Country and it isn't even close.Isaiah 5:20Comment

Don't think so this year. They said the same about 2012--in fact you had a few experts even betting that the dark horse was going to win--but it was clear Kentucky and Carolina were better than everybody else.
Anything could happen, but Kentucky and Duke are simply better, regardless of what's happening right now. The darkhorses tend to win when the landscape is very soft.Comment
