That reminds me of one of my favorite sayings, always expect the worse and if it happens you won't be disappointed, if it doesn't you'll be pleasantly surprised.Philippians 4:11-4:13Comment

Rupp Rafters on the Rivals board must have 10-12 threads (perhaps more) about Higgins.
It's appalling that people would make threats against this guy, but having said that, I hope Mitch will grow a pair and do what he can to ensure Higgins never works a UK game again.👍 2Comment

Nah... Higgins is in control of the impetus for the threats.
(I would never threaten him nor would I endorse others threatening him) But he earned the hostile attention by being dirty.Originally posted by John Stuart MillHe who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that... But we don't know he's dirty. That's just one possibility. Another is that he might be incompetent as an official.
Kentucky fans hated Karl Hess for the longest time, mostly based on the Marquette loss in the Elite 8. You don't hear much about Hess nowadays even though he works in the SEC.
And there will inevitably be somebody after Higgins. A segment of our fanbase unfortunately takes this stuff way too seriously and it interferes with their decision-making.Comment

I still notice Hess. He is still terrible too. I always thought he had had a bias against UK and still do. Higgins falls into that boat too. These guys are humans and sometimes humans have bias against others. It's only natural after having worked games for years there would some coaches and programs they don't like. With Cal being like he is and the total of the UK program I'm sure there are more than a few that fall into the same category as Hess and Higgins. But we don't know he's dirty. That's just one possibility. Another is that he might be incompetent as an official.

Hess was thrown out of the ACC. So if there's bias, then it's toward more programs than just ours.
And I'm not discounting bias at all. As I said above I think it definitely happens, probably toward coaches more than programs. And there's always the possibility of scandal.
But it could also simply be that he's a terrible ref.Comment

I think we know he's dirty. It can't be a coincidence that he misses call and makes phantom calls against one team consistently. And he's known as a good official. So why would this normally good official make his bad calls against one team in particular if there's not an agenda to do so?But we don't know he's dirty. That's just one possibility. Another is that he might be incompetent as an official.

Even the normally unbiased or even anti UK people like Jay Williams are saying it. Even Seth Greenburg came out of the normal PC talk to say that he believes Higgins has a bias towards Cal.
There's too much smoke here.Comment

I hate that 1% of the fanbase has to make the rest of us look bad.....threats and making comments about his business are just over the top
Yeah he made some bad calls in the game but geez just move onComment

If you remember, Hess was dismissed from the ACC because he went after a fan. That should never happen, and because of that situation and the fact he can't move very well, he should retire. I have the game film of my last game, and I moved better then than Hess moves now. His officiating was pretty good this year.Hess was thrown out of the ACC. There were 4 other NBA officials who were fired because of tax-evasion. The NBA flies there officials first class, and they would turn those tickets in and fly coach. They didn't report the difference as income as well as their hotel money. Most hotels they stay in didn't charge them for rooms the NBA paid them for.
There are "dirties" in every profession. Please don't paint all officials with the same brush.John 3:3
