Yep. Hard bracket. Truth is though there is no really easy bracket when it's a one loss tourney. Somebody's Cinderella is another teams wicked witch. George Mason ruined a lot of teams season one year. So did UK....Just ask North Carolina and Ohio State in the Jorts Knight run

I've not been crazy about this crew for one reason or another, but gosh....They have had spurts of play that were amazing.

It used to be a 16 seed had a play-in game for the "right" to get destroyed by a 1 seed. I think that has been expanded to allow for 2 11 seeds and 2 12 seeds to play each other, for some reason.

On edit - it's 2 16 seeds and 2 11 seeds.

I think they should have stayed with 64. It's a perfect number.

Only reason to tinker with it is because the D1 field is ever-expanding. And for good reason: look at Northern Kentucky. They get into the tournament (and collect that money) in their first year eligible.

So everybody wants a piece of the pie, so you get these DII schools petitioning to move up the ladder--and who could blame them? As for the fan experience...I loved 64 but I will never object to more basketball. I wish they would let them play a short summer season as Cal has suggested.

I agree. An 11 seed has made the Final Four in the last decade, making them play another game is ridiculous.

But TV holding the sway it does, I can see the fan interest in an 11-12 seed play-in game versus a bunch of directional universities playing each other for the right to get destroyed by a 1 or 2 seed.

You can bet your sweet behind if we ever find ourselves on the 11 seed line again, we'll get the play-in game. Too many TV ratings to pass up.

Maybe Bobby Knight was right.....Eliminate all the postseason conference tourneys and start out the show with.......Everybody. one more round gets to 128, another round to 256, a third to 512
the regular season is for practice and seeding....And few get those two right.

Either open it all the way up or cut it back to 64 or even 32.
