I just got home from Church and I have two questions. Does any other 1 or 2 seed play their first round game against a team located as close as NKU is to UK? Has there ever been two teams from different regions play their first round games in the same city?

I don't know the geography. I do know UK played EKU in the first round years ago. And UL played Morehead (and lost) a few years ago.For the past few years different regions playing the first 2 rounds at the same city is common.Last edited by catfaninin; 03-12-2017, 09:42 PM.Comment

We will go as far as Bam takes us, if he keeps playing at current level and stays on floor, we can compete with anyone. Hawkins is playing well enough that Cal can pull Briscoe if he is having one of his be a hero games. Our draw is only bad to me in that one of the 3 teams I wanted to avoid stands in our way, before draw I told my son I didn't want to play UCLA, ARIZONA OR WEST VIRGINIA. UCLA is a bad match up for us, we have had no answer defensively for their motion offense the last 2 times we have played them. They have 5 guys that can shoot the basketball, dread that game more than a possible UNC matchup.Comment

Here's teh TV schedule for the 1st round. UK will play late Friday night around 9:30 pm. It will be one of the last 1st round games of the tournament. If they win they will play Sunday evening. The game Friday will be on CBS.

The only thing about this is that these mid-majors have a really difficult time scheduling tough teams because the major conferences won't play them. They definitely won't play them at home and if teams like Wichita St. want those games, it has to be at tournaments and such. It looks like they got six games against high majors in the out-of-conference portion of their season, but had some bad luck because Oklahoma and LSU were dogs.
I know virtually nothing about Wichita St. I saw them play half a game sitting in a Tumbleweed, and it was their conference tournament championship. I do know that Pomeroy has loved them for most of the year.
You know they're going to be well-coached...but so is Dayton. We might not even see the Shockers.Comment

Before the MVC tournament the bracketologist had Wichita all over the place. I think Lunardi had them comfortably in but there were others that had them on the bubble and needing to win that tournament. So I'm not sure anyone knows how good they are. Considering they were a 10th seed they had to win the MVC tournament to get in. But it could easily be Dayton. They won the A-10 but got knocked out early in their tournament. Archie Miller is one of the best young coaches out there and is probably just waiting for the right chance to move on. Either team will be tough Sunday evening.Kentucky fan since 1971.Comment

I don't hate our draw, actually. Once you hit the sweet sixteen you're gonna have to play somebody. Might as well be UCLA. Is TJ Leaf still out? He killed us more than anybody in the first go-round.
This weekend's Duke slurp-fest really turned my stomach. Jay Bilas should be ashamed. Duke had a good weekend, but they're just as capable of losing to a scrub.Comment

Matt Jones got into a spat with a guy on Twitter yesterday about potential replacements for Cal, and he said Marshall and Archie Miller would be two out of four candidates if Cal were to leave after this season. I guess I understand Marshall, but I'd be pissed if Archie Miller got the job. Don't care how well he's performed in Dayton; Kentucky is an entirely different level.

I think I saw that Leaf was back or expected back. But not sure about that.
IMO the selection committee put the emphasis on what you did in the regular season. That's what they should do instead of a riding on a team that got hot for a weekend. Duke may be rounding into form but do we really know that? They probably should have been no more than a three but I can see why they got a two. But in no way did they deserve a one just for having a nice hot weekend.Kentucky fan since 1971.Comment

I agree with that. I have seen too many of these mid major coaches go to a high D-1 school and totally flame out. UK can't take that risk with the enormity of this program.
