Yet another year with a Sunday SEC championship

-Let the lost potential NCAA seeding impact continue. Well done, SEC.

Why is it the SEC's fault a bunch of stubborn old dudes can't account for a game result that ends a full 3 hours before the bracket announcement? Just make a bracket for each result.

Someone, on another thread, asked why the ACC tournament could impact the seedings and the SEC not, this is the answer.
      Philippians 4:11-4:13

        Isn't this the truth.

Heard them talking about this on the radio the other day. Apparently the SEC loves the ratings they get for the SEC title game. Because so many eyeballs are on college basketball today, they don't want to give up the prime slot on Selection Sunday.

But I still don't see why the committee can't come up with two scenarios and slides teams around to fit. That's never made any sense to me.

-I think there's more to it than switching teams. The simple fact is that there is a human element to the process. On Saturday, ALL minds are on the championships. Period. It's undeniable that Saturday end the bracket making process because, on Sunday, all minds are on the announcements.

-The reason there has been this growing discussion for Duke to run at a 1 seed is because, the game and results have concluded in a time and manner for that sentiment to rise. But, UK? No.

-Emotion and fatigue have a lot to do with this, and I firmly believe that the people in those rooms are tired, having ridden the emotional roller coaster of the week, and over most of the night to set things up. And, now, the SEC expects that they will take on the extra burden of trying to lay in some last-second effort, likely to be the last argument of the process, at the literal last minute, in order to reorder three or four or five teams, including destinations, before they ship out the secret ballot announcements with special ribbons that read "Don't open until 6:01pm"?

-That's just not how it works. On Saturday, UK was a 2 seed, because the SEC forced their final decision with this late boondoggle. I would be willing to be the only thing UK can do is drop to the three line if the results of the day go awry.

In all fairness Duke had to run through a much tougher gauntlet. That's three top 25 teams in four days.

Kentucky might win the NCAA Tournament without playing a single ranked team and only one NCAA Tournament team.

If we would have beaten Tennessee and we were being discounted as a 1 I'd have a lot more trouble with it. If we would've beaten either UCLA or Kansas I'm convinced we wouldn't be discounted and we'd be squarely on the 1 line.

We didn't get it done when it was teed up for us at home in those games.

UK should not be a 1 seed, we had our chance against two good teams at home and failed. And Duke shouldn't be a 1 either, period.

They will simply have UK as the #2 seed in a region and Louisville as a #3 in the same region. If UK wins today we stay at #2. If not they will switch Louisville to #2.

......and for all the CAT fans partying last night, a noon game at CST plus you lose an hour. Thats a rough start.

If Duke does get that 1 seed it's a mortal lock we will be their 2.

I agree. UK is a solid #2. Losing to Kansas and UCLA at home. UNC was a great win but SEC just not solid enough this year to stake claim to #1. Nothing wrong with a #2 seed. That puts UK in a good position.

We're going to have to play good teams regardless if we make any kind of a run.

What would concern you about Duke is the same thing that gives you pause with teams like Carolina and Kansas.

Who do we have who could guard Jayson Tatum? Total match-up nightmare for us. We have nothing for him.

Though it wouldn't surprise me if Duke didn't get a team before the regional final that can exploit their poor defense, drive them relentlessly to the basket, and beat them by scoring in the 80s. Duke can't guard dribble penetration at all.

I wouldn't hate it at all.
