It is wide open this year. Read Friday where we were somehow the odds on favorite to win it at 6-1. Tells you all you need to know.
Here's another weird stat. Listened to Bob Valvano show Wednesday and Sagarin had the SEC ahead of the Pac 12. As Cal would say, WHAT?!?!Isaiah 5:20Comment

Wow. Just waking up to see this. We watched the first half and while BYU came back, Gonzaga jumped out something like 20-5.
One thing that jumps out to me about them is that they don't really have guards. They're an assortment of kind of small forwards all around the perimeter. That tends to hurt teams in March. But they have two excellent players in the bear man inside and Williams-Goss.
The loss definitely opens things up for a team to take that one seed, but I don't think it helps Kentucky. Gonzaga if they win out will still be a 2. UCLA looks like a 2 now. Arizona and Oregon are still in the mix for a 2. Louisville is still vying. That seed line is suddenly crowded.Comment

Gonzaga actually has more wins against the RPI top 25 than Kentucky does.
That's the measurement that could keep Kentucky off the 2 line unless we get some help. We're 2-4 against the RPI top 25 using ESPN's RPI. That ain't great.
Butler for example is 7-2. Louisville's 3-6. Gonzaga's 4-0. Duke's 4-3. UCLA's 3-2.
We obviously have no more chances to get a win like that unless we play Florida in the SEC championship, and that game likely won't count.Comment

The Zags have kind of always been a paper tiger. They have lost 6 home games in three years with 3 of the losses coming to BYU.Isaiah 5:20Comment
