Your choice to fill a team need

Not suggesting that there is a glaring need, necessarily (nor am I saying there isn't), but just for fun, pick a current player from any other team to fill any perceived need that you see.

Right now - and I'm surprised at myself for saying this, given that I was a bit underwhelmed by his performance - I think we miss James Young the most from last year's team. We just don't have a go-to scorer whom we can count on to consistently get to the rim. So, if given the chance I'd take Notre Dame's Jerian Grant. There are others with a higher scoring average, but amongst guards/small forwards who play in major conferences, I think he'd be my pick. However, I haven't watched a lot of other teams, so some of you may know of someone better. Bad as I hate to say it, dook's Justise Winslow is pretty darn good, too. He can put the ball in the hoop.

    So, who you got?

Inside Post offense is my choice. We have lots of size but only OK production when it is thrown into the post. if guys make moves, they do not connect at a high enough percentage for those shots and those are not usually good offensive rebounding opportunities since it draws defenders in from all sides. Having a post guy that can get you two when times are tough would really round out this team nicely.

The game is to name a player. Who's your pick?

Grant is a really good choice, dude is a great player. Kevin Pangos is a really good player I would like to have. Stanley Johnson at Arizona is a stud as well.

Dare I say the outside shooting of Wiltjer? If I had to pick a player to put on this team it would an Aaron Craft type player, and I have said this about previous teams. We need a guy who we can put in the game and say "Go stop him" and it will get done. I was thinking Hawkins can develop into that guy, there just isnt many minutes to go around for him. I dearly miss Liggins.

More touches for Karl Towns is my choice. This kid can flat out dominate but with the platoon and playing with his back to the basket, we will never see the best of Karl Towns at Kentucky.......

I will take Alex Poythress, a healthy AP. That is all we need.
I even went and researched college basketball top scorers. I will not take a single one over what we have.

Grant from ND is a good choice. UK could use a slashing type forward. Marcus Paige would be a good one too. Great outside shooter. You wouldn't have to worry about him having an off night very many times. Of course,Okafor. He may be the best player in the country and any team could find room for him.

We don't miss James Young at all IMO.

I would probably take a pure slashing three like Stanley Johnson. Lyles has done a good job but doesn't go to the basket enough--probably because he has spent most of his basketball career up until this point playing in the paint.

Stanley Johnson would be a nice addition, but I disagree about not missing Young. If the slightest opportunity to get to the rim was there, Young took it, did so with explosiveness, and usually finished. We don't have that right now. I'm thinking he'd have some pretty gaudy numbers if he were playing with this lineup.

Young also was one of the poorest passers I've ever seen at Kentucky and wasn't a good defender.

The thing that makes this team so dangerous is that--throwing out the Ole Miss game--they defend like mad. All of them have bought in.

Booker fits on this team better than Young did.

That's all true, but I'm just talking about the scoring. The ability to get to the rim. That's the need I see, and he could fill that need. Realistically, were he still playing for UK, then yeah, those deficiencies would probably stand out and cause some problems. But the need I see is a go-to scorer, and Young would fit the bill in that category.

Eric Bledsoe. Freakish athlete and tenacious defender.
