    Coach Cal's UGA Presser

    The more important things that Coach Cal said besides his well- publicized rant taking up for Coaches Godfried and Fox...

    He said regarding Briscoe, "Yeah, and we won without him . Glad you're out. Glad you fouled out. Now maybe we can go try and win this thing." Which he followed with, "I didn't say that." and laughed a bit.

    Paraphrasing here, he said:
    I've got to talk to a couple of guys, I have to say, if this is who you are, you' gotta to take a step back and give up some minutes. Based on the previous comment, I know one is Briscoe but not positive who this 2nd player might be.

    Mychal and Dom were great. Mychal is playing the best he's ever played in a Kentucky uniform. Dom has saved us for a couple of games now. If you look at it, I think he deserves more minutes and we've got to cut some guys' minutes.

    I love what he said, and am quite relieved to hear him say it. He saw exactly what I saw.

      Mulder and Hawkins absolutely deserve more minutes. Cal said before the game that Mulder was practicing the best of anybody we have. Hawkins has been playing great.

      But it doesn't matter who we threw out there yesterday. They all were completely befuddled by the ball screen. A lot of that's on Cal. He was asking them to do the same thing on literally every possession. If you can't do it two or three times in a row, I'm not sure why you'd think they could do it on the fourth possession.

      Cal refuses to play zone in second halves. I don't get that in some cases where guys are just out of their mind and they're running literally the same play again and again.

          He had a funny line where he was talking about Gottfried getting fired from NC State. Cal is comedy gold at times.

              Cal: "You've got coaches getting fired in the middle of the season... are you shittin' me?"

              Suffice to say, he doesn't seem to be pleased with how a lot of guys in his profession are getting treated by their employers.

                  Gotta be "coachspeak". Gottfried has done NOTHING for NC State........and was getting paid millions. No one should make those dollars for failure.
