How was that hanging on the rim?

If the different training you mention is NCAA vs NBA, you're correct. You won't see a NCAA official move to the NBA, because Professional Officials are just that, Professional. The NBA officials are full time and well paid, with a retirement plan, benefits and all that. NCAA officials all have regular jobs, and officiate on a part-time basis. Additionally, there are two completely different rule books with the NBA rules leaning away from competition toward entertainment.
I disagree. There's just too much of an inconsistency in rules enforcement.
A game without rules, is no game, and a poor product.
But, rules enforcement that destroys a game is the same thing.
IMO, there is simply no defending this much of a gap. The reason I know it can be done, is the NBA. The NBA, though my least favorite level of play, has an enormously consistent officiating model. You almost NEVER, NEVER see this much of a discrepancy in the calls from one game to the next. Not to ANYWHERE near this extent. These SEC games are like seeing officials who have attended completely different training. Like the difference between Russian police and American.John 3:3
