I went over to the IU site, they're not even talking about the matchup between IU and Wisconsin. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't know the game was tonight.

I'm going to assume they're talking about firing Tom Crean.

Crean's team is out of the top 25 and they whiffed on their #1 recruiting target in the fall.

Crean is kind of modeling himself as a Tubby Smith figure. Does just enough to not be horrid, is a solid bench coach, but can't recruit well enough to run with the big-time programs. This in a state that is perennially stacked with talent.

I would imagine if IU finds itself in the middle of the Big Ten and out of the NCAAs before the second weekend, Crean won't be coaching there next season.

IU seems to be going through a rough patch at the moment. Tom Crean is a damn good basketball mind who can't seem to keep moment rolling. The way IU started out this season, they were going to be up there with Duke, UK, and Kansas at the top. I haven't watched them so I couldn't tell you what's happened...but Louisville decimated them in what was essentially a home game for them.

Will be interesting if Crean's seat gets hot again.

IU not being able to recruit its own backyard is tough to overlook. I agree it's tough when they haven't been great since the 80's, but rebuilding your state school's basketball tradition is a built-in recruiting pitch that Crean ought to be able to use to get the program going.

When your highlight since Crean has been there was beating UK in 2012 at home on a last second shot. Indiana should expect more than an occasional Sweet 16 appearance.

Agreed. They had a team one year that was good enough to go to the Final Four and flamed out in the Sweet 16. Two of those years they ran into teams that were simply better - UK in 2012 and UNC last year, but the problem is they haven't been anywhere near consistently good in the other years.

Whut? Whut?? They got rings for that sweet sixteen. Don't be a hater!! I hope Clappy stays at IU forever. Now I know why opposing fans loved UK having tubby.

Of course my dream has always been that UL hires tubby.

They are usually grumbling about Crean's substitution pattern and who to replace him with. Everyone calls him Clappy and he does do a lot of that but the way he pulls at his pants all of the time reminds me of Chris Farley of SNL.

Outside of Dwayne Wade, Crean has done NOTHING. Wade made Crean.
