    Basketball Question # 3.

While A1's try is in flight, which of the following cause the ball to become dead immediately?

    A. The game clock expires.
    B. A5 is in the lane for more than three seconds.
    C. A2 swings his or her elbows excessively.
    D. B2 swings his or her elbows excessively.
    E. None of the above.

I am going to go with E. We know the game or shot clock expiring does not affect a try that is in the air. A player can be in the lane for two seconds prior to a a try that is in the air and that time resets for another 3 seconds if the try hits the rim. I don't think a foul of any kind can negate a try that is in flight, but if I am wrong the only option would be C. But I am sticking with E.

Something is wrong if it is not E.

oh all right....I'll go with C, a member of the offensive team swinging elbows excessively.
          just gotta be different.

E sounds like a better way to play it though.
          C.

The Correct Answer to Basketball Question # 3 is,

E for NCAA, and C for HS.

Section 6. Ball Does Not Become Dead
            Art. 1.

            b. Time expires for a half or extra period.
            c. A foul occurs.

Art. 3. A live ball shall not become dead when the ball is in flight on a try for
field goal or during a free throw when an opponent swings his arms or elbows
            excessively without making contact.

            RULE 9; Violations and Penalties.

            Section 14. Elbow(s)
            Art. 1.
It is a violation when a player excessively swings his arm(s) or elbow(s),
            even without contacting an opponent.

Section 16. Floor-Violation Penalties (Applies only to
            Rules 9-3 through 9-15)
            Art. 1.
            The ball shall become
dead or remain dead when a violation occurs
(Exception 9-14.1). The ball shall be awarded to an opponent for a throw-in at a
