We've got ourselves a good one here folks. Since Andrew Woodson, we've had a number of highly touted HS QB signees that just never really panned out. A couple of them showed tremendous promise, but never overcame injuries that derailed promising careers. A few more were obviously overrated by the various recruiting services. I think UK is due to have a highly touted HS QB recruit come in that actually meets or exceeds expectations. I believe Ponatoski will deliver.

Some big questions loom though. While he seems like a fantastic pickup, will his focus be on baseball? For one, he's projected to be drafted in the MLB draft. What round, who knows, but there is still that decision looming if he's drafted in a decent spot. The other question is will he be able to participate in Spring ball when he will be playing baseball? I would think Spring football would be pretty important for his QB development. So who's happier? Mingioni or Stoops?

Not as worried about baseball as I was earlier. He can not be drafted this year as he is not eligible.

Well, he is a 2026 recruit, so he will be eligible for the 2026 draft next summer will he not? Unless he plans to be an early enrollee and be here next spring, to play on next seasons baseball team, the 2026 draft could still be in play for him.

The draft is in July, right after he graduates HS, so there is still a decision to be made.

I hope one of our HS QB finally pans out. Between Ponatoski, Saunders and Boley, one of them has to work out and be the real deal, right?

My guess is that AL may not have been as excited about him wanting to play Baseball. UK probably had to be a little more accommodating to get him to commit.
