combined high school and transfer team ranking

I've fully expected the recruit ranking services would evolve to add transfer rankings to the existing high school recruit ranking to produce a combined team ranking. Here is a link to the first combined ranking I've seen.

https://n.rivals.com/team_rankings/2...omprehensiveIn this ranking, UK is listed at 22 and 11th in the SEC.

If they have published their methodology for comparing hs recruits to transfers I can't find it.

Balancing HS recruiting with the Transfer Portal is already a very tricky situation and will become even more so going forward. And, success in the portal, while very important, does not come without a cost.

To date, UK has been extremely successful in the portal. We have brought in not only multiple starters, but multiple STARS every year. From Levis and Robinson to Davis and Leary and Cox and a whole bunch in between. And, our only significant losses were the DT who went to Auburn and possibly the LB Wade.

But, what does that portal success say to our HS recruits? It used to be that guys worried about being “recruited over.” Now, they have to worry about being “Portalled Over.”

Last year, 3 of our top 4 RBs were transfers, McClain being the only exception. Next year, our top 2 RBs will likely be transfers, and, as I type this, we’re are in the top 3 for another highly regarded RB from Toledo. What does that say to the Wilcox, who was considered a HUGE recruiting win last year, or to the two HS RBs we have coming I this year? Maybe nothing. But it does make me wonder.

The portal gives and the portal takes. But as said, the use of the portal likely creates more portal candidates as frosh and sophs are pushed back by transfer candidates, and very likely some incoming recruits will hesitate based on who comes in to take their position.

We always say competition is just part of the game. Fact is it got a lot more competitve than it ever was.
