Where does UK stand in Recruiting on Defense

As of now, UK has 23 verbals for the ‘24 class.

Despite that number, the Cats still have major holes to fill on the roster.

on defense, the Cats have upgraded at every level (especially LB), and yet there are rumors that the staff is still looking at a couple of players. The 2 most mentioned players are 3* Cam Dooley who is a DB who decommited from Missouri over a month ago while the other is Marcus Downs who is the Tailgate party for UK/UL game in Louisville... DT from Greer SC. Both would deepen the class at 2 different positions on defense that are void of depth and talent especially the DB position.

The only Portal player in this side of the ball would probably be another DB to provide an immediate starter again in a Defensive Backfield that desperately needs talent. I doubt the would go for a portal player on the DL, but you never know.

The Cats are loading up at LB and edge, and that is a good thing. Assuming no defections, the DL should be solid and deep. In addition to the guys who have payed, we have the highly touted DL from Indianapolis, who is red-shirting, and one the the Smith twins is a DL.

The secondary APPEARS to be a weakness, but we are very young back there, and who knows how much of that is personnel and how much of that is scheme.

I meant to add that Marcus Downs has already decommited 1 time and verballed to UNC, so who knows if another decommited is in the works?

On paper, this is going to be a superb class. Stoops and staff continue to recruit at a high level.
