Thursday Headlines: Kentucky Flipping Smith Twins from Michigan?

Momentum is shifting in favor of the Kentucky Wildcats in the recruitment of twins Jerod and Jacob Smith.

The Smith brothers committed to the Michigan Wolverines, but over the last couple of weeks, rumors have been swirling that the twins could ultimately decide to flip to Kentucky.

The rumor mill began to swirl when Jerod and Jacob moved back to Kentucky from the northeast with the intent to play their senior seasons with the Corbin Redhounds. Whether that happens remains to be seen, as they’ve not been ruled eligible yet by the KHSAA, but nonetheless, the move seemed to be a positive one for the Wildcats.

Vince Marrow has been the primary recruiter for the Smith twins and has been involved with the four-star duo for years, and it seems like that hard work may be starting to pay off as multiple recruiting insiders are logging picks for the Cats.

Thanks. If Boyle Co. can raid Danville's team, we should be allowed to use these guys. We'll see.

I reckon Boyle Co. has destroyed Danville's team. They've taken the best offensive players from the Admirals team.

Many years when KY had 4 divisions Boyle Co was at or near the top with the big boys and Danville was always a contender in 1 or 2 A. With their youth programs in town there was plenty of talent for both schools. I wasn’t aware of the recent raiding of one by the other that you mention. Boyle borders my county (Washington) and we’ve always struggled to compete with them in football.

Also Boyle has, in my opinion, one of the best, if not the best, h.s. coaches in the state in Justin Haddix. Haddix left Corbin for Boyle two or three years ago.

I think we end up with the twins, which would be huge. There's some rumors floating around that SOMETHING happened that damaged the relationship with Harbaugh. There's no way of knowing if that caused them to move back to Kentucky, or if them moving back to Kentucky is what caused things to go south. Either way, they are in the state and playing football. Stoops typically does a wonderful job of keeping kids like them in state, so we'll see! I'm hopeful.

They both had 7 solo tackles and 2 assists. Jerod had 2 tackles for loss and Jacob had one. Jacob also forced a fumble and had 1 fumble recovery. All in all, it sounds as if they both had a good game.
