Willie Rodriguez, 3-Star Cov Cath Tight End, Commits to Kentucky

Another instate talent is playing college football for his old Kentucky home. Friday morning on Kentucky Sports Radio Covington Catholic tight end Willie Rodriguez announced his commitment to Kentucky.

Willie Rodriguez is the fourth Kentucky native to join the Wildcats’ 2024 recruiting class. The other three pledges — Cutter Boley, Aba Selm and Hayes Johnson — all took official visits with Rodriguez in early June, lobbying for the talented tight end to pledge his allegiance to the Big Blue Nation.

Kentucky kids seem to play above their star rating. I wonder why?

If they aren’t going to high profile camps or near a population center that the ratings guys pay attention to, they get ignored.

Plus an offer from a 5 star football program like UGA will add a star to a kid after the fact.

As an aside, we lost a four-star TE we were after to Ohio State. Coach Marrow got on Twitter and made some remarks that came off as sour grapes. Coach Marrow is a great recruiter, but I wish he hadn't done that.
