Jamarion Wilcox, 3-Star Running Back, Commits to Kentucky

Kentucky’s backfield just got better. The Wildcats just picked up a commitment from Jamarion Wilcox. A late riser in the recruiting rankings, Wilcox is a running back with home run playmaking ability. Once a Georgia Tech commit, Kentucky beat out Clemson, Ohio State and withstood a late push from Auburn to secure the talented rusher’s signature.

Jamarion Wilcox is the No. 40 running back in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He recently rose up through Rivals rankings, now considered the ninth-ranked running back and the No. 146 player overall.

Kentucky’s new running backs coach, Jay Boulware, played a significant role down the stretch in Wilcox’s recruitment. Hugh Freeze tried to convince Wilcox to officially visit Auburn during the final weekend of the contact recruiting period. Instead, Boulware was in the athlete’s living room and Wilcox was wearing a Kentucky sweatshirt.

At 5'10" and 195 lbs., he's still not the big back we need to replace CRod.

^ I think they’re hoping the that Wilcox provides a fast RB option. Ray Davis is the every down type of RB to fill in for Rodriguez

i hope he will take the ball and attack like CRod did, instead of stutter stepping like our other RB's do.

This person is the "Lightening bolt". I don't think he is meant to be C-Rod.

Both Stoops and Vince have used that phrase with him.

I'm still pinning for a CRod type. I wonder what the deal is with Dee Beckwith whom we obtained from UT? He has the CRod body type.

I don't think Loen, etc are looking to replace CRon. My guess is they will try the wide zone blocking scheme again. If so, Wilcox and Davis are the kind of back you looks for, not a CRon replacement. Not sure where Jackson fits into this. To the extent there is a CRod replacemen t, he may be it.
