Another good get. The kid is QUICK. A friend's son plays with him and from all accounts he's a fantastic young man. I know we've lost a few recently, but it's nice to see the trend of us taking our pick of the in state kids. At this point you can't blame kids for going to Clemson or Bama, but another year like last year and I think you'll see fewer of the big stars leaving the state.

I just saw, on Twitter, that he visited UofL last weekend and has decommitted from UK.

We picked up some CB picks for Michael Drennen from Ohio. He's the number six all purpose back in the country with offers from Bama, Ohio St, etc. He is expected to play the slot in college so this may be a case of Watkins not being happy he was recruited over and would rather play sooner than later.

That could very well be teamchemistry. I wonder if it could also be some fallout from the team's performance this season? If the team fails to win at least seven games, I'm afraid we may see more defections.

Right you are Matt. I'm not one to assign a given game as most important, etc but feel it's critical we will the Ark game to right the ship. If we lose this one, things may tailspin into a losing season. That would almost certainly lead to more defections.

TC15 may well be right. But if we're losing commits to crystal ball predictions of kids who may never come to UK then college sports has gone even more nuts. Any kid who doesn't even want his school to recruit other talent would truly not be a kid I want. Hope Watkins is not that type.

It’s not just the players minds. They have coaches from other schools as well as family and friends in their ears as well.

Lol.....I've given up trying to make sense of a seventeen, eighteen year old kid. Hope it works out well for everybody.

Potentially. But, if that were the case I would assume the decommitment would come from a higher rated kid. Nothing against Watkins, but we have three (soon to be four, it seems) higher rated players at his position coming in and he is flipping to a program that is behind ours in a number of ways. He wants to stay at home and play sooner than later. You can't fault the kid for that.
