    In state recruiting

Just conversation....I read a lot of hand wringing about Kentucky kids getting pilfered by other schools.

Personally, I think that concern is overblown. Kentucky as a state simply does not have enough players to hyper focus in state and become competitive as a top 20 team.
The coaches simply have to keep focusing on player rich states around us( Ohio, Georgia) and divivg into Florida and recently Alabama.

Course, win 9 games on a solid basis and a lot of recruiting worries go away.

Much of what you say is true. Your stats are accurate, and your strategy is sound. However, none of that changes the fact that, in an unusakky good year for in-state talent, we are absolutely gett8ng killed. And, no matter how you spin it, that is both disturbing and disappointing.

I've lived my entire life in Ky. I love the state, but my first priority is winning. If we can pick up some Ky. boys, that's great. If not, I'd be ecstatic with a 8-9 win team every year that didn't have a Ky. player on it.

I wonder if we aren't 'losing' a lot of these kids to the same pitch CMS was able to use. Go to Purdue, quick playing time, big name conference.
part of the result of the recruiting upticks this staff has had is that we are seeing FOUR STAR recruits red shirt.
seven, right years ago we were looking for two and a few three star players to contribute immediately.
plus...well, the fact is a big part of college for many is getting away from home.

Thanks RV....as you pointed out, UK is still in the mix for several kids, and some have had their minds set for quite a while.

Crumes has committed and I think were in good position, from what I've read, for 3 or 4 others. I think we are making a push getting the Big Dog involved and it looks like it will make a difference. I can't recall Kentucky having this many talented kids in a recruiting class. We've got to go where the talent is located. Maybe Kentucky hs football has turned a corner?

I read an article on that topic....jury is out. Certainly a better class than normal, and in-state kids getting schollies and props gives reasons for younger kids to get excited about football.
                population.
Same reason Kentucky Basketball goes nation wide to recruit.

RV, Old School or anyone. Do any of you know anything about a PRP kid named Edward Speaks? About 6'4", 280 and play's both OT and DT.

Kentucky doesn't produce that many D1 kids in this sport., so the staff has to do most of their recruiting in talent rich states. And when the state has a higher than usual number of D1 prospects, half off them want to go out of state to play. I can't blame the kids. There are so few in state stars to begin with. Would love to seethe top in state kids play here and get drafted.

Isn't UK stocked with TEs? Might that have something to do with it?

Not really. This is 2 years out. And, Notre Dame also has another 4-star TE in the 2020 class. Not to be negative, but it just looks like another local kid slipping away.
