I was hoping we'd go after Scott, if we were going the JUCO route.

Is Jarren Williams' Commitment Solid? UPDATE: Williams De-Commits for a Second Time

As I recall, even Barker has played VERY sparingly this year. He did come in to the UT game -- and promptly fumbled the ball away on his second snap -- but I think the staff was looking for experience in that situation. If there were any true "mop up time" -- and there has been little, if any of that -- I would prefer to see Hoak in the game to give him at least SOME experience.Comment

This kinda crap is EXACTLY why I cant get into football recruiting whatsoever. I know I sound like an 80 year old "get off my lawn" curmudgeon...but Jesus...commit, decommit, recommit, decommit again. Football recruiting is teaching these kids that a commitment means NOTHING.
Matt and the guys on KSR were talking about how our fans were bashing the kid on Twitter and how messed up that was, and I agree to an extent. But when these kids, who are old enough to die for our country overseas, commit and decommit a thousand times and demand everyone respect their decision....F that.
The kid should have never recommited to begin with. Now, hes left our coaching staff scrambling at the very last second. And his dad sounds like a first class liar after what he said on the radio a few weeks ago.
All these fans saying "oh i wish you the best"....yall are better people than me. Now I dont wish him ill, but I dang sure aint wishing him or his family well.

It does seem that some word other than "commit" or any derivative thereof, would be more appropriate. Kindly now, perhaps "intend" or simply "lean" or "consider" would make more sense. But to use the word "commit" in football recruiting is just plain nuts and sets up folks for bad feelings on both sides.Comment

The more we go heads up with established teams, the more this going to happen. A kid accepts an offer, then a dream slot comes open.
I wish it didn't happen, but until the rules get changed somehow, there it is.
In honesty though, a player has absolutely no clue if who is committing to will be there tomorrow. The Butch Jones recruits, Florida recruits, now maybe guys Mullens is rounding in....where does that leave them if they are bound by a commit to that school when those guys that build 'relationships' get fired or better deals?Comment

Jarren's on again, off again, on again, off again situation was frustrating - for us and the staff. UK is done with him and moving on full steam ahead.
Stephen's eligibility will be up.
Drew has already graduated and could transfer anywhere.
Gunnar is an unknown with 3 to play 3.
Danny has a huge arm but there's more to being a QB than having a howitzer attached to your shoulder.
Walker is a tough kid that may look for a position change.
UK is trying to bring in a mid-year Juco and probably a HS Frosh.
If that Juco is brought in will Drew stay? Will Gunnar stay? Will Danny and/or Walker ever play QB at UK - or anywhere?
We could have anywhere from 3 to 7 QB's on campus next year. I would place the over/under number at 4.Last edited by RV; 11-17-2017, 09:00 PM.Comment

If I were the QB coach, I would try and get the kid with big arm to be a student of game film and get him to believe that if he pans out in the spring, that he could be the starter. The Juco QB / dual threat is a very smart move. Had UK not gotten Stephen Johnson, not sure what their record would be for these last two seasons. I would prefer to have a big arm QB, to go along with a strong running game, but if they get a dual threat juco kid who wins the job, as long as they win, that is what is important. But, even Eastern Michigan had a QB that had a big arm. I baffles me why Kentucky can't land one that has a big arm and can be a gamer on the field and not a practice dummy.Comment
