On to someone else. After last night the prospect of Miami and Richt is a mighty nice offer. Whatever.

Good luck to him, good luck to UK. Now about going for a couple more Days linemen with an agressive attitude....

I don't think so. I believe Williams was the only QB they had planned on taking in the 2018 class.

I'm not going wish him any luck at all. I'm a better person that to hope he gets injured or anything like that, but as long as he doesn't end up at a school playing against UK, I really don't care where he goes or how his career pans out.

Will this impact any of our other commits?

Actually, FWIW, the 247 board has a thread started by one of the mods entitled "Ohio QB hears from Kentucky". It's a "VIP" thread so I can't read it, but it sounds like the UK staff is going to Plan B. This staff isn't perfect by any stretch, but I bet they had to have known that Williams commitment status was shaky, and were preparing for the contingency.

Just my opinion, but generally the coaching staff should plan on taking at least one QB per class. It will be interesting to see how this will turn out....

                This from the H-L:
UK coaches have not tipped their hand about possible backup plans for Williams in recent weeks, but the Cats have been tied to three-star, dual-threat quarterback Kevaris Thomas, a 6-foot-4 prospect out of Lakeland, Fla.

Thomas told Rivals.com late last month that a UK coach had come to see him but said at the time that the Cats were planning to take only one quarterback in the class of 2018.

“When the Kentucky coach came down to see me last, he said he liked me a lot but the head coach only wants to take one quarterback,” he said. “He said he was trying to convince him to take two. If he gets that OK, he’ll offer me. Or if they lose the quarterback ... or something.”

Thomas said at the time that Western Kentucky was the leader in his recruitment. He also has a scholarship offer from Colorado State.

                  Meh.

Hoak is the future. We need a guy who can move the ball through the air, and occasionally scramble with his feet. We need to get more balance not only with the play calling, but also with the results. We need to be able to use these receivers for more than screens. we need posts, and goes, and deep outs. With our RB corps, we'd be supremely solid.

I certainly think Hoak is the immediate future -- ie, next year -- and I believe that would have been the case with or without Williams. But, down the road, this at least seems like a big loss. Still, who knows? The staff will find someone.

If Hoak was the future he would have played already, this season. The red shirt transfer from Ohio State is more likely the future. He has a gun of an arm.

As for the kid backing out a second time, football recruiting Is ridiculous. Why does anybody give their word if it means nothing.?

Danny Clark isn't a transfer from Ohio St. He's a true freshman this year who was committed to OSU at one time. He never played for them.

So, he is red shirting, not transferring. Clark is supposed to have a gun for an arm. UK hasn't had a QB that could win a game with his arm in quite some time.

Tough but, may not be as bad as some think. Danny Clark a real talent with 1 yr in program; Gunner Hoake very good with 2 yrs in program; then Barker. Keeping all of these was a question I had if this kid came. We may be better with the kids we have. Several yrs of solid QB play, provided all are as good as we think

Every other team we play seems to be able to find a great QB (everyone except TN and FL)... go get someone else. I hear Hawaii is the place to look these days...

Trying to really get it on the button with these kids is really just rolling the dice. You can get a Jalen Hurts who so far has lost a total of one game in two years, you can get a Lamar Jackson that turned out to be amazing, you can get Patrick Towels who for some reason it just doesn't work, or you can get Stephen Johnson who apparently no one in the whole country saw.
it's systems, coaching, a whole lot of supporting cast, natural physical mental emotional development....

And it seems to me just an enormous part luck.
                                Always chance.
