    Next year's staff

With malice towards none of our coaches I'm wondering if you see any changes in the staff next year. I've read that Peveto is out at LSU. It seemed that our Sp. Teams really dropped off after he left. Any possibility that he might come back to Lex.? Also if Lamar Thomas was to leave would any of you find Gerad Parker to be a good coach to join our staff. Former player (WR) that was Purdue's Interim HC. I also seem to recall that he was a good recruiter at Purdue.

I don't think Lamar is going anywhere. Our ST's were better with the exception being we can't kickoff in the endzone regularly and our punting was suspect at best.

Why would Thomas leave after one season?

I think the staff sees what this thing could become and no one leaves willingly. I still think we see a new DC next year. Maybe Eliot gets demoted, but I think he's gone unless Stoops is ok with the extra work of game planning and calling plays. There's only a few head coaches who do that anymore.

Definitely time for Eliot to go. We saw a very clear case of addition by subtraction this season. How anyone in the program can read that any other way is beyond me.

            Agreed. We need a DC.

I agree with all the above. I have no idea where the Thomas leaving thing is coming from. Better kickoffs and punting would cure most of the ST's shortcomings. As for a new DC, as I've prev. stated, I can't see that happening. Unless Eliot leaves, on his own, I believe we'll see the same arrangement next season as we saw most of this one.

As far as the punts I think the problem was a young punter. I expect his kicks to be longer next year because of the year in the weight room if nothing else. The kickoffs are a problem. Austin used to be able to drill them but since his injury he hasn't. It might be a mental thing that he doesn't want to let it fly, or might still be physical. As long as he keeps hitting the clutch field goals though I'll take the trade.

The kick-offs being shorter are by design. He is kicking it higher to let the coverage
get down field for tackles. His 50 yd FGs are only 5 yds shorter than a kick off and he
clears the uprights on FGs by more than enough.

Matt has had the Eliot situation plugged all year. He's where he's going to be...IMO. when all of us can notice the changes after Mark Stoops stated he was getting more involved, I'm sure every AD worth his pay noticed that Eliot is not as of yet ready to be a dynamic defensive coordinator.
I'm gonna give a nod in courtesy to John....he has put forth a lot of different scenarios where the defensive change is NOT attributable to Stoops. Fact is though, the defense has improved all the way up to not very good. At one time it was my heavens terrible.

Still a long long way to go for this team to be where we dream of it being.
I like the direction it's going though.

In the event he got a more appealing offer. I would think he would be a hot commodity in light of improvement of the WR corp IMO.

Turnover happens. Derick Ansley to Bama. Andy Buh to Md.

Improvement, yes; improvement worthy of a promotion? Meh. Our guys still dropped a lot of balls.

how many times was the other team stopped short of the 25 yard line? how many times did one of UK players make a hit on kick off to light up the team? how many fumbles happened on kick offs? how about the on side kick, which would not have worked if he had been kicking it into the end zone. but with forcing a return, they had to set up for it every time.
