Right. I think an actual hand off to Boom would've been a nice change from the wildcat with Snell. He has the vision and speed to bounce it outside and Snell is still learning that.

Agree 100% I am proud that we sit 5-4 right now and 4-3 in the SEC. I heard about a week ago we are the only East team that had beaten a West Team in the SEC. Does that still hold true?

Well.....pretty competitive game. Georgia ain't as good as the used to be, but Kentucky ain't as bad as they used to be.
unfortunate time for the kids to get penalties, also some catches that shoulda, woulda if they had been catches. Couple odd calls, but you use what you have.
very pleased with this bunch. Another year of seasoning, plus a couple more players in the rotation....and who knows?
congrats to the Dawgs.....but them boys have some Cat scratches on them.

Let's see if these kids can squeeze a big Orange some next week.

Lol......if you told me we would be playing Georgia to a last second loss after the Florida game early on, I would have said you were crazy.

These kids have come a long, long way.

I agree, with the talent and depth that Kentucky has .... six, maybe seven wins is right at the top of the chain. I'm pretty sure if the team was playing the first of the year as it is now we could count another win.
regardless...this is a bowl team somewhere. That can only help.the process and the progress.

Hard to keep being a UK fan. Just seems like nothing ever really changes. Cats should be 7-2 on the season and in first place in SEC east. Instead they are 5-4, pissed away two games at home, will likely end the season losing 3 of 4 and go to a boring, mediocre bowl. 9 wins was out there for the taking this year. The SEC east is a joke and UK still can't take advantage of it.

I guess there is progress, still really dissapointinf though.

I'm incredibly impressed with the change in this team. Great effort.

I must admit that, though the rest of the team has made strides, the area we simply haven't seen improvement from is the one that we need the most, and that is QB. Johnson seems like he has the personality and demeanor to lead the team, but the kid just can't throw the ball well. It's not his fault we lost, so don't go putting words in my mouth. But, he is, quite fairly, the worst player on offense. Despite the talking up of his athleticism, he really doesn't run the ball exceedingly well, and is the absolute worst passer in the conference.

To be honest, the development of the lines on both sides of the ball has been incredible. Snell is a man possessed, and Boom is always potential dynamite.

But this team has done about as much as it can with a QB who can only barely throw for 100 yards in a game, and ends up with a net of -5 yards rushing on five carries.

KENTUCKY 3-13 on 3rd down conversions. UGA 6-14. UGA did just enough to win the game. Man that 1 field goal that was taken away.

Well said. He is what he is a lower level QB. I really appreciate him taking over but it would be nice to have burnt the RedShirt on Gunner earlier in the year. He could have learned while Benny and Boom ran the offense. Might have been a better option by now with game action under his belt. Anyway we might need to run the WILDCAT the complete game against UT. Then win or lose come back and take care of business against the Peay.

Unless you were expecting to be 7-2 at this point of the season you should be happy. We are 5-4, have a winning record in the conference for now, are second in the east, and are playing the best we've played in ten years. Where we stand now, especially after the first two games this season, is an incredible accomplishment. We lost a close game to a team that was favored over us. It isn't the end of the world.

You take UGA and South Carolina. Their Sophomore QB will be battle tested and ahead of the game. If for some reason Drew Barker cannot go we have to start all over with a Freshman RS QB learning on the fly. We will have a better line, more experience, deeper team but still have a weak spot at the QB position.

Seems we have struggled at QB most of my adult life.

Too True. Something has to change because if we play at that spot next year like we are this year then we will not have any better results by years end. I really thing most of this year is prep for a good run next year. Problem is Johnson will not be the QB next year (at least i hope not), Barker play or no will still not have any experience (or very little) and then we have Gunner with no experience or a freshman coming in with no experience. So no matter what that will probably be our week spot again next year.

I don't understand why we even play a QB period. We run the wildcat the majority of the time and Johnson's passing is pitiful. That 3rd down and goal play late in the 4th quarter I would have let Snell drop back and hit Conrad for a 8-9 yard pass. Hell, I'm from Paintsville and I can assure you that Kash Daniel is a much better QB than Johnson. Kash was actually a really good pocket passer (in high school) last year and with his size and speed he could run it for a few yards.

If we had even a decent QB then we would be a really good team.
