Darius West Suffers Season Ending Injury

    Per Jen Smith's Twitter account.

It’s extremely tough for the kid, you really feel for him, Eliot said of safety West, who will miss season with knee injury.

The def. is taking some hits.

We have some depth there but I feel horrible for him.

He will be missed. He was starting and now that makes McClain have to get snaps there which will make him less fresh as he also plays in our Nickel which we will use a lot. West had beaten out McWilson who has had his problems in coverage but he will now have to take the bulk of the snaps. It hurts our special teams depth and the only other guy we have there is M Walker who clearly is not ready yet.

This is a major loss, not just for this year, but to season a talented player for his upperclassman years. The DBs were the strength and depth of the defense, but just took a big blow. I hope West recovers to 100%.

This is two big hits to a defense that really couldn't afford any or many losses. That first game is looking tougher and tougher.
