Kentucky football is counting on Drew Barker now, and so far he’s delivering

LEXINGTON, Ky. – This is the Drew Barker everyone thought Kentucky was getting. The guy throwing lasers and being lauded for his leadership. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound quarterback who has done enough homework to beat a defense before he even snaps the ball.

“Drew’s looking like a 10-year vet out here, man,” wide receiver Jeff Badet said after Monday’s practice. “He’s just maturing. That’s the difference I’ve seen with Drew. Off the field, he’s more of a business guy. He’s not playing around how he used to. He’s just more of a leader right now.”

Hopefully the good news and reviews keep coming for Barker, and are accurate. Hopefully the change from facing UK's DL to SEC DLs won't make a big difference.

And hopefully they'll have the right pieces in the right places with the OL.

The photo of him with Cutler in the background is funny.

Sounds like the young man has grown up a lot. Drew needs to keep it going in order for us to have a successful season.

Barker was awful for the most part last season.

However, coming in with that much pressure, the team struggling, Boom in flux, the team still in play for a bowl...that wasn't an ideal situation. At all.

But he has an enormous way to go to be even a formidable SEC quarterback.

I've always felt Drew could do the job. If nothing happens, we'll find out this fall.
